Nikonos III and V Information

They have the III and the V listed, but not the IV-A?

on a lighter note, I think I am getting one of these from them

Over the past few months on and off I have seen a lot of folks with Nikonos V and III so I figured I would pass along this link to an interesting site for users.

I nearly took the plunge (HAH!) and went with a V a few years ago, mainly because they are still obtainable MIB at ridiculously low prices. I recommend Jim Church's book to understand what you are getting into. My wife and I eventually concluded that underwater photography and being a good dive buddy didn't mix.

I just sent a new to me NKIII to Bob at Southern Nikonos for a CLA ($90 + shipping). I will let you know how I make out. He was very helpfull on the phone.

I used my Nikonos III on a recent trip to Niagara Falls for a wet trip on the Maid of the Mist. I used it later as a discrete street shooter on the kitchy main street, Clifton Hill.

$90 sounds GOOD for any CLA....Darn they change the O seals too.

Funnily enough I have recently been looking at these NIkonoses on eBay. I got into photography believe it or not because of the Nikonos 5. I was a scuba diver and bought one to capture images of my holiday diving trips. After owning it for a few years I worked out that I used it above sea level more often than below and began to get interested in conventional photography. Eventually I sold it to buy some kit or other. Of course I now regret it as the camera was built like a tank and being water proof was perfect to take out on walking expeditions in inclement weather or rough terrain. The thnig I remember most of all is the smell. Weird I know but that smell of silicone rubber and lubricant makes me all nostaligic and wanting to buy another.
