No 35/1.1, but new 35/1.2 II.

I am very happy for Cosina. She is like the old Leitz of Wetzlar, trying to improve her current lens lineup by coming out with version II, III and etc. With today's Leica pricing so unaffordable, Cosina has really stepped up to the plate and offered some unbelieveable alternatives.

Mr. K and his staff rock, no doubt about that...I applaud them for their work......

The lens looks awesome....if it has the same performance as the original, I imagine it will be a popular lens.....

You must have some special pre-production R4A because each one I've tried focuses only just just below .7m like my Ikon and M4. In addition the manual and specs sheet confirm that the camera doesn't focus to .5m. I was very frustrated to buy one after seeing you say this several times tom and find it didn't focus to .5m. What's the deal?

This was just something I heard being discussed Jon, however Tom's post says it was something about glass 😀
It's quite a design feat - and I obviously seem to be one of the few who like chrome rings - so very nice.
But we'll have to wait and see how it performs, I imagine many people might upgrade for that close focus - I don't care all to much so I'll probably stick with the original.
 
I guarantee this lens will not be exactly the same as the first version... so if you want the first version, you still have to deal with the prices as they are today.

The reason I bought the V1 new last month, is because of the image quality. I got used to the size after the first full day with it.
If this new one doesn't perform as well as the V1, I have zero reason to buy it. Size reduction is nice, but I'd rather have the IQ personally. So it's a waiting game until I see frames shot on film, from people that use it in the real world, not aimed at brick walls etc.
Until then, I'll be thoroughly enjoying my bigass V1 🙂

Doing this to a $1000 lens is challenging, Brian.
I am asking myself, would a 35mm/1.2 help me push my photography forward more than a Summilux 35/1.4? Cost-wise, these two lenses are similar when used.
 
i have tried covering the chrome ring of the cv 35/1.4 with both a sharpie and a black matte material, no difference. it is not what causes the circular flare. the biogons ans planar won't show this problem, so no point in worrying about it, imho.
 
and that is why I sold my CV35mm f/1.4!

Has anyone ACTUALLY seen flare from a lens with a silver front ring? I haven't. Ever. I do use lenshoods on all my ZM lenses (they have silver rings) and the hood covers the front ring. You should be using a hood anyway for best quality.


Also does anyone have any idea how much this will cost?
