No 35/1.1, but new 35/1.2 II.

It looks much smaller which is great. 1.5cm shorter and 5% thinner means much less intrusion in the viewfinder. In particular with a nice, 'fenestr'ed' bayonet hood. Also, the closer mn. focus is useful at larger apertures. Unless you are only in it for close up bokeh shots 🙄. There'll also be the u4/3 users that will appreciate it.

I for one am very interested.

Given the substantial size difference I would guess that the optical design has changed too. I am also curios about the performance. Hopefully it will come out soon.
 
This is very interesting indeed. Now if I could get such a lens plus an older version lest for a lens comparison project, now that would be cool. Very cool.
 
Didnt Tom say a while back that 35/1.2 couldnt be made any smaller due to whatever without compromising performance? So I wonder how this lens will do. Also, since it does seem to have a closer min focus, was this lens made more so in mind with the 4/3 cameras and will not do as well on regular M camera?
Plus even with a smaller size - lots of people didnt like CV Nokton 50/1.5 for being too large, so while new CV 35/1.2 maybe smaller - will it still be "too big" for most?
I really do want to see how it performs - cause since it was clearly redesigned - it may have lost it's famous signature of the first version.

one is to use the scale focus marks, another is to move the focus from infinity to closest focus slowly, and you should feel and see where the coupling disengages.

Many M lenses made focus down to .7 or .5m now, so M3/M2 and older M camera users have had to accomodate somehow.

Plus, a significant market for these lenses may be m4/3 and NEX users who will welcome the closer focus.

I think that only the older M3's focused to 1m.
all other M's will focus to 0.7m.
Also, I don't remember that there were so many M lenses focusing down to 0.5m, so I think people are not that used to cope for this type of issues.
No indication on the lens that you reach the point where focus disengage could be a problem. Their 25mm is like that...
Also, I wonder what is of frame accuracy at 0.5m without the frame moving in your finder and a crazy parallax error.
The 0.5m ability could well be something intended mostly for digital shooting.
I guess we'll have to wait and see...

Phew! At last I can say something about the new VII 35f1.2. It was discussed last year when I was in japan and the problem at the time was the size reduction. Using the old formula it would have affected wide-open performance, but Cosina changed the glass and supposedly it now has the same performance (or maybe even a bit better at f1.2). The size reduction is maybe not significant - but will make it a bit more comfortable in the hand. No, I dont have one (yet) - but I am looking forward to trying one out later.
Please make up your mind too. Everybody complains when lenses dont focus down to more tan 0.9 meters - and here is a 35 that will go down to 0.5 meter! On a R4M/A it will focus down to 0.5 meter - and the smaller size will intrude less in the finder too.

I had and sold a 35/1.2.... Definitely a regret. I don't know that I would be looking to replace the original if I still had it, but I have always thought about buying another.

I am interested in the other rumor too, the 50/1.4.

When can Tom tell us about this one?

Yes, the "ugliness factor" is there, and the flare issue will be seen or not seen as people start using the new lens. The 05.m min distance sounds very nice.
