No 35/1.1, but new 35/1.2 II.

if the new 35/1.2 keeps the same signature but doesn't have the bullseye in the light source bokeh circles i'll be tempted to sell my v1 and get a v2. it's one thing i'm not a huge fan of (being really picky).

Wow, nearly all aspherical lenses do this. I bet the 50/1.2 Noctilux does this. I know that the 35/1.2 did it as did my 28/1.4 AF-D and 58/1.2 Noct-NIKKOR.
 
Leica's new lens prices are nuts, and CV's new lens prices are .... what?
More reasonable? Realistic? Affordable for some?

That's a good question....that's why I mentioned that special version of the 50mm asph summilux(E43) that was released with the mp3.....I wonder if anybody owns that lens AND a current 50mm asph summilux and has seen a difference (I doubt it).....

Anyways, this new lens is good news and I am thankful that Mr. K and his staff are hard at work these days.....

OT: The Zeiss 100 f2 Makro Planar would be an alternative. Still expensive by my standards, but less than the CV 125's legend-status price.

There really are so many good lenses available, enormously fertile ground for gear debates and wasted shooting time.

The length of 77.8mm for V1 is with the supplied lens shade (63mm without it), so the difference in length would be a whoppin' 1mm assuming the V2 length is for the lens barrel only ..

Falloff is the point of lenses like the Noctlix and the 35/1.2. You want a sharp bright center with dark corners that keep distracting subjects out of the frame.

I hope someone can definitively answer your question, I'd be interested in what they have to say.

However, I think that the E43 retro 50 lux asph is pretty much the same "optical design" as the 50 lux asph, but with a scalloped barrel and E43mm front filter mount. I'm not sure if anyone ever meant to change the optics.

Same with the pre-asph v2 and the so called v3 pre-asph, same optics, same rendering, but the mount or stopper whatever was changed so it could focus a bit closer, (some even had retro scalloped barrels too!), built-in hood, and E46 filter size, possibly because it's a more modern size. But, same optical design. I've had both.

Cosina made a 43mm filtered 50/1.5 Sonnar in S-mount with the exact same optics as the 46mm filtered m-mount version.

Since the old measurements included the hood I think it's pretty clear this isn't changing in size much at all.

That's my understanding as well. Ovelaying both lens' images in Photoshop does not seem to support a difference of 16mm in length.

[EDIT: checked the CV lenses chart (see sticky post) and the V1 is indeed 63mm w/o hood and 79mm with]
