Never noticed as bad of distortion like you posted in any scenario with my 35 f2, but I know it's not as clean as the f1.4. The f1.4 was optically corrected whereas the f2 is not. Pros and cons of each. For me, I prefer the slimmer profile, weather resistance, silent motor, and faster focusing of the f2 vs the optical correction and extra stop of the 1.4.

I´m very skeptical about 23/f2. Was to disappointed about the 35/f2. My 35F1.4 is way better in sharpness and the distortions of the 35/f2 are a shame:

I tried to like the f2, but the f1.4 lens wins in all ways. My copy was sharper and I also liked the bokeh more (OK thats kind of De gustibus non est disputandum).

The 35/f2 is a very good lens and I like that Fuji sells it extremely good. Thats best for all Fuji photographers, it keeps our system alive.

But for me the 35/f1.4 is the better lens and so it wins the sitting place in my bag.

I expect the 23/1.4 will still be the optical champion over the compact 23/2 - that's to be expected. But there were so many drawbacks to the 1.4 (especially size) that it's already long gone from my bag. So I'll happily give the new lens a try.

The caveat for me is how I use this camera. This is not the camera I use professionally - if I want optical perfection, or as close as I can get - I'm probably not shooting a small format to begin with. So I'm already willing to give up a lot in my small carry around cameras on that front. I just want the FOV at a small size, faster than F4.

Admittedly, a 23/2 lens is appealing. I was looking forward to its release but then I found a used X100S and it's like a new puppy--it follows me everywhere I go and it's faithful to a fault. Incredible camera. Incredible enough to make me rethink my need (or desire) for a stand alone 23/2. Indeed, I already have the 23/1.4 and it's a remarkable--but heavy--piece of glass.

I also have to agree with TKH on the 35mm lens comparison. I have both the f/1.4 and f/2 and I prefer the 35/1.4. The 35/2 has faster AF but the 35/1.4 has "the look" in my opinion. I sorta justify keeping the 35/2 as a slightly smaller/lighter travel lens. But, really, I guess I'm just a hoarder when it comes to photo gear.

All three lenses (50/2, 23.2, 80 macro) were introduced at the July 7 XT2 announce were they not. I've seen pictures of them and even size comparisons of the new f2 lenses to the 35/2 on Fuji Rumors.

Now, if they'd just update the 14mm to WR and clutchless, I'd be a happy (but broke) boy. I really dislike the lenses with the push-pull focus rings.

The push-pull focus ring doesn't bother me. That's because I never manual focus anymore. My vision is no longer capable of fine detail focusing. The autofocus in every single camera I've ever used--even the slow, dodgy ones--has been faster and more accurate than my manual focus ability.

I tend to use AF mostly as a prefocusing aid and then touch up or follow focus in MF, but I can see how it can make life easier with vision challenges. I think I'll need to learn to trust it more with the new XP1.

The 50mm f2 was buried in the Photokina reportage. I'm not very fond of the 75mm focal length it's just a bit too short for me. The 90mm I find more pleasing to work with.

My hope is to see Fuji create a 16mm f/2 or f2.8 at a comparable size, price & IQ of the 23mm & 35mm. then I'd have classic 3-lens kit.

I just finally got an f2/35mm... Great little lens.
Will pass on the 2/23.
The 2/50mm will be my next lens purchase and possibly last for the fuji kit.
I use 35mm most of the time. The 18-55 or 55-200 when needed.
That f2/50mm will probably live on a body full time with one of the 35mm's on the there body.

When is the f2/50mm to be released does anyone know?

I've decided to get all three of the small f/2 lenses. I am a X100 fan, but the 23mm for the X-Pro2 is hard to pass up. Also, 75mm will be perfect for a little more reach on wide streets where I like to photograph from across the street. I feel like Fuji made / is making these lenses for me.

I am leaning towards getting 50/2 as well. I already have 35/2 and 23/2.

I could use my Summicron 35 and Summilux 50 that I already have, but it is nice to have a dedicated lenses with water/dust proofing. I wish they went with 56mm FL though. My favorite short-tele FOV from film OM days.

I agree. 85-100 equiv would be great.
Often have thought Fuji should re-purpose the Macro 60mm f2.4 into a "pancake" lens.
The optical unit is excellent. Just "slip" it into a new WR helicoid and add it to the group of WR prime.
Designing a 2/50mm will need to start from the beginning of the design process..... = Expensive Development.

I really liked the 60mm f2.4 Macro for it's Image quality. The Macro focus helicoid was just too slow and made the lens really large.
It's filter thread is only 39mm so the actually Optical unit is rather svelt.
Re-purposed it would be a great contributor.
