I was looking for a second hand f1.2/56. Going to wait with this news.
Last I read it was to be a 2017 release. This is much better.
It's fast enough and so much smaller than the 56mm or 18-55.

I haven't heard anything at all. Would love to see a new 35mm 1.4 with updated AF as well.

I would be on the waiting list for an updated 18/2. I find that field/angle of view with an APS-C sensor useful for my work. The existing 18/2 XF R has a tarnished reputation because initially the image corners were not fully corrected. My ad-hoc impression (no test charts!) is this was remedied with lens firmware updates. At the same time, this is a reportage lens and I wouldn't use it for purposeful landscape work.

The only issue I have with the 18 is build quality. On my very early sample, it stinks -- loose aperture ring, scratchy focus ring. However, the files it produces are lovely, focuses quickly on my xp1 in near any light and it's small and light. A keeper even if they update it.

At $450, I am going forward with a very positive attitude.
A few real world reviews will make up my mind.
f2.0 is good for me, small-ish is good, $450 is good.

Agreed. I think it's what I've been waiting for. The 3 lenses (23, 35, 50) are perfect for the X-Pro2.

Old thread, I know. Just wanted to reiterate the "never say never" adage.

While I said earlier in this post that I would pass on the 23/2, I recently bought one anyway. Yeah, I still have the X100S and a 23/1.4 so I had trouble justifying it. But.... I use the OVF on my X-Pro1 cameras pretty much exclusively. The 23/1.4 intrudes a little too much into the image area, especially with the optional Fuji hood. And I have to admit my 23/1.4 is not always consistent with AF when used at f/1.4 in low light. I love the image rendering of the f/1.4 lens but it does have some limitations in usability.

So I justified the purchase and I'm very happy I did. AF accuracy at maximum aperture is improved, AF speed is improved overall and image quality is better than I expected--not as good as the f/1.4 lens but still excellent enough. Compared to the X100S? About the same image quality to my eyes. Mainly it's the improved handling for the X-Pro1 that I enjoy about the 23 f/2 lens.

Maybe, you had a bad one... I think, mine was pretty good in image quality. However, I sold it, because the handling just didn't feel right. It was small and light and it worked on my X-Pro2 well enough with fast AF... However, I don't know. Although I'm a real 35mm FF equivalent type of guy, it didn't gave me the real 35mm-Feeling. I didn't feel at home with the lens. So I sold it. Strange experience...

I don't think it was that sharp at distance either. I know sharpness isn't all but when my $600 ricoh grII is way sharper than my $2000 x-pro2/23mm combo something isn't right. The 35/2 is really great. Guess i will use the 35 in my fuji and the Ricoh for my wider shots.

Funny, I also sold mine. Didn't have any issues with sharpness, but it just didn't feel right compared to the 35 f2. Seeing as I also have the 18mm, I got rid of the 23 f2. I did, however pick up the x100f so I still have that perfect 35mm focal length now with the same sensor that's in the XP2

Now, if I can do some mind control and inspire Fuji to do a 14/4 WR that works the same way... I really dislike the focus ring clutch on the 14/2.8 and would like a WR version anyways.

And a 16/2 or 2.8 while we're at it! 16 - 35 - 70 would come close to one of my favorite Nikon SLR lens trios from back in the day (24 - 45 GN - 105.)
