...for a whole week.

Did Y'all learn everything there is to know about the M5?

Are y'all sleeping?

Or are Y'all busy using your terrible, horrible, no good very bad huge heavy ugly M5s? ;)

Perhaps all M5's are in capable, strong enough hands, busily metering to perfection in difficult light.

I know mine is.

Nice isn't it? Nobody carping on about how big and ugly the M5 is. I was out with mine the day before yesterday, some APX25 to finish up- with the 28/2.0, just plain fun.

I've got some Agfa Ultra 100 in there now for a change of pace- it's usually my B&W daily camera.

I had mine out today, with my new 90mm f4 Collapsible Elmar. Just came back from Sherry Krauter, Man, is it sweet now :)
M5 likes it. I have wrapped black Dymo tape around the barrel of mine, to tame it. Earlier this week, it was all about my new 85mm f1.5 Canon. That will be going to Essex soon, for a helical cleaning/CLA. Two great new long lenses to play with on M5.

Fantastic rangefinder, the M5. So big and heavy it makes the transition to a dSLR almost painless!

(Ducking for cover!) :D

Keith,

That M5 is mine, all mine!!! Do not even think of trying to sell it to some Yankee. I pick it up tomorrow morning...

So the question is, do I pick up a Nokton 35mm f1.2 at the same time?

I am busy taking photos with my M5, received it exactly one month ago and so far 16 rolls of film ... :D

Mine is going back to its roots later this week. I'm visiting Prague and that's were it came from a couple of months ago. Hope to show you some photos in a week or two.

My M5 has been in for CLA every since I bought it so I can't comment. I had it shipped there directly by the seller. Hopefully I have it for Christmas :)

Who did you send it to? I need to get mine in for a CLA as well but don't want to wait months for it.

M5 question... how soon can I afford another one?

2008_10_22_001_700.jpg

Leica M5 | Voigtländer Nokton 50mm f1.5

And I ordered the Nokton 35mm f1.2...

But I thought the M5 was too big, too heavy, too ugly to be luxurious? A black M5 cannot even age well, instead brassing with dignity, it gets 'dirty'... maybe like its aging owner...?

The M5 is the redneck of the Leica family, overweight with an appetite for shifty light and filthy batteries. No...

If sending across the border is not out of the question, I HIGHLY recommend Sherry Krauter for cost, quality and turnaround time. My son's M5 came back absolutely like new.

Hey, Memphis...

Is your M5 black chrome? Or black paint? I thought all M5's were black chrome which just gets dirty looking? Also what serial number is your M5?

Also thinking about talking to Sherry Krauter about upgrading an M5 to a 0.85 finder to use exclusively with fast 50's, 75's and the longer lenses. What do you think?
