The colour on that shot is what I noticed first.

Ken Ford said:I had a Noct my first time through with Leica M, and it was great. I was working on a couple of documentary projects at the time, plus I used it for a few features. I don't think I ever shot color with it - Tri-X at 800, baby.
I'd love another, but realistically it's not going to happen. I'm more likely to buy a E3 for travel, and I still want to replace my 28 and 75 C-V "placekeeper" lenses with Crons.

Simon Larby said:The honeymoon period soon paases. Well it did for me! I had one for a year and shot extensively with it @F1. In the end i sold it and purchased an a 1.4 which i much prefer @1.4.
vizioneer said:I had one, certainly didn't like the f/1.0 in the center only when I had say a person on either side of the composition. I do have some photos that would not be imitable from any other lens I don't think though!

It's for sure a neat lens, I just would prefer the new 50 lux asph in chrome, and would enjoy the sharpness, bokeh, and .7m close focus. Horses for courses as they say though! Get it if it fascinates you, that's the X-Factor that cannot be quantized.
That is a great shot, and I think you've articulated what makes the Noctilux so special, that super-shallow DOF and the swirly OOF areas. Many people don't like it, but I have to say that personally I really love it.vizioneer said:Thanks Will! I too was enchanted by the imaging when I first got the negs back and printed some. It is truly unique- the DOF and bokeh, like energy.
vizioneer said:the bokeh is a bit like a Van Gogh portrait- a crackling, swirling vibe. 😀Exactly!
