I have a question for you Nocti experts. I was recently shopping for a mint condition 6 bit coded Version 4 F1 Nocti. I wound up finding a perfect specimen. The weird thing is that the serial number starts with 291 as you can see in the pics. In my search I noticed all of the V4 Nocti's start with serial number 38 or 39. I wonder how this 29 is a V4?? Have any of you seen a 29 serial V4? Based on research i did, the lens I bought dates back to 1978... which seems impossible since the V4 wasn't made until 1993. Anyone have any idea how this could be? The six bit coding must have been added later... Any help is much appreciated.
I asked the question on the LUF as well... and they suggested I ask here.
Engraving error?
A V3 upgraded to V4 and 6 bit coding later? This would entail a new ring... and keeping existing SN.
Other ideas??
