Nokton 40/1.4 without SC or MC designation?

I bought a Nokton 40/1.4 from KEH, not really caring whether it was SC or MC. When it showed up, I noticed that it doesn't say SC or MC...nothing.

Any idea which version this might be?

I have seen this before. It would be the MC version.

I've had two MC versions, I do not think the MC was labeled as such.

The MC (normal) was introduced first, it was maybe a year or more before the SC version came out. Since all lenses today are MC it wouldn't make any sense to label it as such.
