Nokton 40mm 1.4 disassembly.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this.

I am looking for a disassembly procedure for the nokton 40mm 1.4 , preferably a diagram or photo journal.

The reason is that the focus helicoid feels and sounds dry and abrasive, there is also a slight bit of play between the body of the lens and the front element. I think it just needs some lubrication, and maybe a little adjustment.

Any comments?

I had similar problem with a 35mm Skopar when an internal screw had unscrewed itself. Because of the wobble I suspect that some loose part is rubbing and grinding while you turn the focus ring which gives you the impression that the helicoid is dry. I have never opened a Nokton 40 but the construction seems to be similar to the Skopar, which was very primitive. I wrote a small report about the repair, you can use the forum search to find it.
In your case I would NOT unscrew the rear lens element as in the repair report that was linked by Meakin, I think that is an unnecessary risk. First try to unscrew the outer retaining ring around the rear element. Not the one that holds the rear element in place, but the one next to it (in the case of the Nokton 40 it is a bit hidden), that is the ring that should tighten the complete optical group to the mount. Then you can take out the optical group as a unit and see what is wrong with the mechanics. You will need a spanner wrench of appropriate size to unscrew the retaining ring. I see the retaining ring you are talking about, it is around the rear element and recessed into the barrel.

I would like to have a look at the threads first to determine if a lubrication issue is causing this, it looks like I can gain access by removing the mount.

I will photograph the process once I get going.

I, too, would like to know how to do this. My 40 has two seemingly unrelated issues - a hitch in the focus and a retaining ring that unscrews itself. I've managed to retighten the ring several times, but I can't seem to get the focus smooth - working it a dozen times improves the situation, but the next time I use the lens, I have to do it again. Any information appreciated. Thanks.
