I had a chance to borrow this lens last week and put a roll of Ektar through my M6 with it.
To be honest, I wasn't immediately enamored of it. The 1m closest focusing was annoying me and it's obviously much bigger and heavier than your typical RF lens.
But now I've got the film back and done some scans - WOW! I really like the look. Seems to give a low-contrast look with this film and some nice flaring effect when shooting towards the light. Some of my focusing was a little off - probably due to me moving slightly just before tripping the shutter.
Anyway I really like it and I may have to save up some $$ for one!

I like the look you got with this combo. Very pleasing.

How sharp did you find it at the point of focus when shot wide open?
Thanks! To be honest none of the shots seem to be super sharp at the point of focus. Like I said in the first post, probably my fault. The sign in the reflection shot is the sharpest I could manage.
I don't really care though because I'm not looking for ultimate sharpness with a lens like this!

I really like the bike shot, very atmospheric, you could sell prints of that one. The guy taking his camera out of his pocket, dont need that shot in here, the other one is too similar!

Thanks for the positive comments.
Debusti: The Nokton seems a little big on the M but it handles well. Viewfinder blockage is not too bad. I also tried the lens on a panasonic G1 for fun and it looked and handled perfectly!

Bumping because I just noticed this thread was moved for some reason. I figured that because it was about Ektar film as much as the lens that it would be at home in general photography discussion. Probably won't see much traffic here.

Where did you have your Ektar developed? My local CVS 1-hour couldn't seem to develop this film without half the shots looking very blue. They just replaced their equipment with a new Kodak set-up. Maybe it's time to try again.

I have this combo, Leica M6 and a Voigtlander 50mm f1.1.
Love every part of it. For this price the f1.1 comes in handy.
Since I can't afford the Noctilux, I am very happy with this lens.

Enjoy!

your photo with yellow flowers reminded me my shot with canon 50mm f1.2 and my M6 🙂
