Now I really get it!

It'd be nice to have at lease some pics today right? The unspoken advantage of the DSLR...

and one final note:
If you haven't heard, the bulky SLR form-factor is now no longer necessary for "instant" pictures. Many new compact-sized cameras are being introduced today incorporate what is being called a "digital sensor" The cameras do not use film, but instead utilize a removable memory cards that is used to store the pictures, which become instantly accessible with use of a computer terminal. Even Leica has made a camera that incorporates these new digital innovations.

Yeah, I've heard about them cameras without film, personally I don't think they'll catch on, like APS.🙂

Ha.
Photographers are an intresting bunch. Your equipment is a huge factor on getting a job or not, with Canon / Nikon DSLR's your chances are huge for work, but steping into the world of RF's you look as though you have no idea what you are doing standing next to a man with a EOS 1DMKIIN, 17-40mmf4L, Canon Speedlight, and another Canon 20D slung over his shoulder mounted with a 80-200mmf2.8USM.
As much money you are spending on your gear, you are taking the hard road in the consummers eyes...
Its a weird world we live in, but I like my cameras with some class, not Bio-Form.

A job? What is that? 😱
I have never worked on anything but long term projects and no one has ever cared what I used to shoot with. It is all about the end result I guess.

well I guess neither your M3 nor the photogs with DSLR + giant lenses captured any close ups of the people there.. unless you had a big 135mm on your M3?

Sheesh. The whole point was the advantage of the RF form factor, its quiet and discrete operation. A digital RF, maybe, but not a DSLR.

Yeah but I am talking events, weddings, concerts, portraits, stuff that people want here and now and are willing to use people with digital equipment to get it the next day no questions asked.

I am all for the long term. Hell, I'm an aspiring documentary photographer looking to input my stories into photographic works, not just singled out pictures.

I'm just saying nowadays, peope are impatient and don't want to even wait for film to be developed over night, they would rather see a low-res picture on the back of a camera and wait till they get home to see the pictures in their e-mail.

Sorry to rustle your feathers. 🙂

Sometimes I wish I had a prosumer Canon digi body so I could work for a local newspaper. But alas, I go for the cameras that made history through their design and the photos taken on them.
Sigh.

Slow boat

Hello All,

I finally got around to posting some pics from this event, it was an awful week at work.

People at this event were frightened and I hope I captured the moment. The lighting in there was awful but I did as well as I could with a crappy light meter I suppose 😛

These are pics of people gathering there to find out how to reach relatives that had been picked up by ICE that day and also groups from all walks of life meeting to see what they could do to help. Several baby sitters there still had the children that were never picked up by the parents due to the round up. Schools were also trying to figure out what to do.
