Furthermore, she is really silly if she did that.

I check bonjourmadame.fr regularly. I never do it from my laptop that belongs to my employer. In case there is a dispute, it is in clear contradiction with the code of conduct and i have a lost case.
It's that simple.

My view is that the fuss is not about her naked body - she did not present a naked body stripped of a sexual meaning (i.e. in a medical fashion). She is protesting in a very hysteric way about the meaning of sexuality in her society. Societies regulate sexuality and sexual relationships and in more traditional communities this regulation is stricter than others. No doubt that she thinks that western societies regulate sexuality in a more appropriate way, therefore the stockings which are associated with western societies but at the end of the day, everything that she think she knows is just a fantasy.

Exactly.
I have witnessed ho some immigrants from the Middle East think that there are no moral standards in the USA to worry about, and then they feel the backlash from people around them. Consider the fact that many people in this country follow a religion; they even go to church.
If you state that you do not believe in God, many people around you (neighbors) may be insulted. Note how religion is followed at different levels in the US. The presidential elections will be affected by some religious belief. It is impossible to remove religion from general life.


Some people from the Middle East want no religions at all. They are a small minority, and they are not being tolerated. This nude images are most likely about such a protest.

My intention was more to introduce the topic of how the woman in Egypt is being judged vs. how this woman in the "freest darn country in the whole darn world" is being judged. Morality is certainly relative. I don't think anyone would argue differently.
 
A friend of mine -- a woman I have known for many years -- refuses to tell anyone what her religion is. I wish more people would do the same. Mostly, my interest in anyone's religion is about as great as my interest in their shoe size, i.e. zero.

Okay, let's bring this thread back on topic.

A big question for me: is that photo art?

Is it good art?

I kind of liked the take a poster to her blog had on the original photo where he took it, made it into a triptych and applied yellow, rather than black, censor's blocks over strategic locations. I do think the stockings are social commentary that adds some potency to the image and I don't think she's unaware of the fantasy connotations they create.
 
In order to comment on the artistic side of these images, first I will pretend that these images are done by some woman of herself and in an unknown country so that the politics is removed.

I do not see a high level of art in these images. Maybe I am missing something.

Why hysteric?
Aren't you just projecting your views onto her actions?
 
The girl gave interviews to the media, and she clarified why she did her nude body messaging on Twitter. She enjoys sex,and she wants sex to be an option without marriage. Liberal political parties were shocked, and they distanced themselves from her images. fearing that conservative parties will use it against them.

You cannot do that. In general that does not even succeed with art that assumes (or assumed) itself to be apolitical - and in this case, a political statement is intended.
 
I am just doing what Rob asked us to do in his last post here.
She told CNN that she was not part of the revolution until very recently.
Her nude image was about sex options for women before getting married.

I interpreted her actions as a statement for gender equality/ human rights. I don't know if her motivation was as an artist or as an activist, or both?

Maybe I got it wrong.
