Stephanie, I look forward to seeing your artistic nude's if you happen to show them 🙂 Oh and that air release thing looks kind of funky. Would be hard to hide tho, unless it was the timed one 🙂

You hide it under a canvas backdrop. D'oh

By which I HOPE you meant that they are kindly people who wish you well and try to keep your best interests at heart!

Yes. Yes. That's what I meant. 🙂 That's why I value the opinions of people here.

Sorry, Bill. The dude sounded like he was trying to impersonate you.

I haven't seen a metal spork in years. Had a nasty one on a multi-function knife when I was a kid ... it also knife edge as well, which I guess would make it a sporkife.

You may or may not be successful selling your own, nude prints. If you really need money now, it'd be easier to pick some up by researching local photographers who shoot nude models. One of the guys in my club pays girls to pose nude for him (tasteful, artistic nudes, it's definitley the classical kiind you see in paintings), they contact him through various websites, tell him their charge, and he considers it and pays them. I've heard anywhere from $50 to $500, some of them put min hours as well.

Of course, the fun part is always listening to him after his shoots, "oh, you should have seen the skin on this one, magnificent!" or.. "my god I'm never taking her picture again!"

Hahah 😛

1) The Canon P has a Self Timer.

2) Those Air-Release things are kind of neat, I have two, you squeeze it and it goes PPhhhfftt-Phhhfftt. Didn't Ringo use one in "Hard Day's Night" with the Spotmatic to take a self-portrait and it fell into the water when he activated the squeeze-bulb?

3) I'm with Annie and Oscar on this one. Think about it carefully and make sure it's a step you really feel that is important to take.

Thoughts while my film is in the fixer:

Lighting on this is going to be important. I'm probably going to experiment a lot with it to see what looks good.

Film choice is also going to be important. Pan-F would probably be a good film for low grain, but for natural light shots I wonder how Neopan would turn out? What is the real ISO sensitivity of Neopan 1600?

For my two cents I would say, go for it if you are comfortable.... that being said I think the first batch should probably done in a way in which you cannot see your face, only for your security ... you just never know who lurks around these parts.

But this is your decision ... I am sure however they are done they will be very good and of course something new to the forum

Yours are defective, Brian.

They are supposed to be silent. If Stephanie is running around naked, trying to beat the self timer she could get hurt. Just my 2¢ worth.

If you're really serious - borrow a D70 or similar and use a wireless remote - the darned thing is smaller than my car lock remote!

No *way* am I borrowing a digital camera for these shots! It'll be a pain in the arse to get them converted to B&W right.

Well... I have a D50 and the remote... its an excellent way for self portraits

if you don't have photoshop you can use Irfanview

their greyscale converter is really good in my opinion and I have photoshop CS

plus its free irfanview.com

and me being only 24 (soon 25) has nothing to do with my digital ways...

I just love all forms of technology

Digitals have a B&W mode - and any color shot can be so converted! 😉

BTW: Perhaps this could be the start of RFF's third book? Self-portraits...clothing optional!

Anyway, good luck with your endeavor. The real problem, as I see it, is that each shot will be "static" since you will not have a "shooter" to direct/command you as you strike each pose.

I want to do this with a rangefinder to show that they really do have varying uses. I also want to stay with film because I want to do minimal touching up.

I have heard of some photographers use a full length mirror just behind their camera on a tripod ... once you see a full length at the proper distance (ie what you see in the few finder....) mark it off on the floor, use the mirror for composition and then use a timer.

If you can get a hold of a Yashica Electro... they have timers many of those 70s fixed lens cameras have timers

better not scan the negs then...as it becomes digital and loses all sense of tradition. 😀

good luck with your new project. and with all best intentions, there are debt cousellors out there to help people get through lean times...debt can be overwhelming and sometims professionals can really help. Arround my parts, they are a free service. Of course, they might tell you to stop buying stuff, something none of us wants to hear 😀
