nudity worning: may offend some viewers

Visiting Aki-Asahi's website, I found the proper leather pattern for my M2 but see only a very short list of different coverings for it. Prices are very reasonable and include shipping. Others have spoken highly of the fit, so If I can find a covering I'd like for my camera, I'll likely order from him.

Is there a way to see all the different coverings he has on offer?
 
I asked Aki, he's really fast ... but he won't sell the plain material to me. He sent microtools to me, but there I couldn't find the snake and lizard skins.

I'll just try other sources.

On the first link, I think that the last two photos (where the rewind button has a circle and an arrow superimposed) look like the Pebble Emboss, so you can compare original, 4008, and 4034 all in one page. I've seen other pictures (don't have links) of actual covered cameras w/ Pebble Emboss and they somehow look chunkier, pebblier I guess. Not to my taste.

Also, fyi, I think that either DAG or Sherry Krauter use these covers, so if you are thinking about a CLA, might as well have them do the recovering too, though it takes away the fun.

One more note: My M2 was recovered w/ Camera Leather's BR (British Racing?) Green, and its pebble grain is really small and has a great sheen (this is why I have been reluctant to re-cover, the green is beautiful but not exactly to my taste). If you can wait a day or two, I can get photos of the camera and cover(s).
 
Aki-Asahi's web exposure sure does not make it easy to see all his camera covering offerings. Cameraleather's website is so much better.
 
Aki- Asahi could use a little help with his web presence. He has great product and service. Its just hard to view his offerings.

For instance, one needs to look at nearly every camera to get an understanding of what materials are offerred. Cameraleathers.com spells it all out quite nicely.

It took a while but I checked out Aki's offerings. I like the embossed lizard texture best, and for colour, I liked black, blue, green, brown, and oak. I'm going to try the oak colour. Hey! For $19 I can change my mind if I don't like it.

Yeah, the dark grey lizard is definitely "sweet." But I could get another couple of Russians for that price.

Sounds like you are leaning toward Aki-Asahi San.

Blackburn College and then Sangamon State in Springfield, and yes, literally, allergic to pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and all the other crap they spray on soy beans and corn downstate.

The passive/aggressive part was easy. The other damned near killed me.

But I loved photographing those beautiful, lonely, abandoned farmhouses.

Yes, Bob. I ordered the oak coloured embossed lizard cowhide cover from Aki. What a great price and he answered my emails within minutes. Do you still have the red lizard skin for a FED2e?

Yes, the pesticides and other crap they spray can be killer. I had allergies when I lived there, but several years after leaving the area, I finally became pretty much allergy free.

Not only the abandonded farmhouses, but the stark prairie landscapes ... which can be a challenge, but quite beautiful when pictured well. I have some wonderful shots from Sand Hills State Forest, near Pekin. An XA shot of dawn over a meadow graces my wall now.

When ever I return (my sister lives in Mechanisburg and works at St. John's in Springfield), the passive agressive thing drives me nuts. Don't get me wrong, I have good friends there, but like you, it's a good place to be "from".

I agree completely. I am actually from California and took a teaching job in Illinois fresh out of grad school. After a year in Illinois I developed asthma, which I had never had, and, like you, when I moved away - guess what? - it "miraculously" disappeared.

The small towns, with their lovely town squares, I found enchanting. Being from the West I had never seen these old towns with their brick streets and huge elm trees that in some towns had grown so large as to create a sort of canopy forest over the streets.

For a photographer such as myself, it was paradise. Of course the locals hadn't a clue why I was taking endless pictures of their town, which they couldn't wait to get away from.
