New York NYC January Meet-Up

It looks like it's gonna be fun! Although no drunk Santas and reindeers this time... But maybe a bunch of slightly-intoxicated gear-heads is enough?
I'll try to drop by if I don't freeze on the way.

I'll see you guys tomorrow!

I'm thinking I'll bring 4 cameras -- a RF (not leica), 2 TLR's, and a SLR

We like surprises. I wonder what cool mysterious rangefinder Andre will bring? Inquiring minds wanna know?

Funny what Andre calls a pocket camera. More surprises.

John,

You are back to doing film?

Also a GXR? What's that?

Cal

My Aunt died last September and my Uncle asked me if I wanted her camera which was the Nikon EM. I said yes thinking I wouldn't like it, but would just like to have it around. I mess around with it here and there, but I'm 99.9% digital. The camera is tiny, so I don't mind using it sometimes (since you know I'm generally a SLR hater). It came with 3 E Series Nikon lenses. I've been thinking getting an old Nikon F with the standard finder (I like it simple) if I can find one in good shape at a decent price. I never stopped doing film... I just only do about 10-15 rolls a year. I try to keep it for special occasions.

The GXR is a Ricoh digital camera that has different modules that you attach to the body (sensor and lens combos as opposed to just attaching lenses).

Dan, it's okay, February's meet up is right at the corner :)
and I have a few pics of today's meet up for those who can't make it today---> click here

By the way, this is Tung, the asian guy with an aluminum water pipe attached to a Canon 5D.

Thanks for organizing. Great turn out. It was fun! Got a few pictures from it. Looking forward to Feb's.

Cal - I am hoping the next meet up on Jan 27th, Sunday as I will be away / NOT available on the 19th, 20th and 26th. But, do what works for more folks.

John

Had a great time at the meet up today! The "Table O' Gear" might've been the most impressive yet. At one point, a ketchup bottle was almost sent careening across the table where it had about $10,000 worth of camera gear in its trajectory! It was a close call indeed :)

Anyway, I had to cut out a bit early so I hope I see you all again next month.

Frank, that fine gentleman is Carl. He sits in the Board of the LHSA.

Andrea, you should bring your daughter with you next time. I like the subway shot that she took a lot.

John
