John,
I have discovered that I am a greedy American and that no one camera does it all. Life would be easier if I could bypass buying great/remarkable cameras that sell for no money. That's how I ended up with 5 Leicas. LOL.
Cal
Cal,
Don't forget that 'red' product auction at sotheby's is coming up 23 November. That Ive/Newson leica suits your style perfectly. All you need to do is stumble out of work and you'll be cutting in the line. It is lot 14.
Alternatively, there must be some secret underground passage into that building.

Any takers on an over-under for when Cal bites the bullet and gets the Rolleiflex?

methinks he may actually dump that 21 Super Elmar that he's been wanting for the FW Rolleiflex. I hope the SEM won't feel jilted.

Cal, you're going to need a new job soon...![]()
John,
You are correct. The job I have now is mighty boring and I feel that I can not get my craziness out. It was fun when there was the Cold War and indirectly I was working for the government trying to destroy the world.
It was fun wasting tax payers dollars and generally doing rather silly stuff like build a spaced based neutral partical beam acellerator that would be a spaced based weapon to shoot down interconinental ballistic missles before they vaporize us when Ronald Ray-gun was President.
It was fun and dangerous working with chemicals, 10 watt CO2 lasers, and powerful dangerous machines that harnessed kinetic energy.

Jean-Marc,
I am still building an ultra-wide rig built around the black 1980 MD-2. The MD-2 already has had a complete overhaul from Sherry, I bought back my TA black Rapidwinder back from Fidel, and I already have a TA Rapidgrip and Zeiss 21mm VF'er. The only missing piece is the 21 SEM.
I can see me pairing up Leicas to avoid lens changes: 21-28; and 21 50. The idea also is to have a monstered out Wetzlar M6 and MD-2, both rigged out with TA Rapidgrips and TA Rapidwinders for shooting film.

If only the MM would take a TA Rapidwinder :bang:

Klaus,
I have a grip. LOL. The Monochrom is my minimalist camera.

John,
That's one reason I love my MM. Another reason is it takes over 300 images before I have to reload.
Still something very tactile about shooting and developing film. Nothing like emptying an 8 reel tank with over 300 images.
Cal
Yeah Cal, it doesn't matter to me anymore if my images come on a roll of film or on a card. I've gotten over that.

John,
It is all good. Really loving the huge kit I built out. I'll be taking every advantage of every technology and every format. It all is really great, and I feel lucky to be able to take advantage and have all the best.
I'm so spoiled. Perhaps I shouldn't of beat up that guy in the Leica booth. I really laid into him about how the M4 has the best finder Leica ever made. I showed him the M4 that just got overhauled by Sherry and then roughed him up further. I showed him some technology from 1970 and complained about the cluttered framelines on my later M6 and Monochrom. LOL

Ah! that's why they gave me a strange look when I went over to the Leica Booth
with my Nikon S3, they probably thought "another one of these film guy's again",
But I did play with the "M" which was real nice.

I think it was good for you guys that I didn't go up to them on Friday with my IIIc with m4-2 winder. They would have had no patience left at all.

Most likely, When I went over to the Nikon booth I ask them if they had any lenses
for my Nikon S3 they looked and laughed, but they did like the camera.
