OK Folks, what is Missing? How can we improve RFF ?

I just remember that when sometimes I wish that RFF had a feature of "Google Search" box. It would be very useful to dig information from this informative source.

For me ,fix whatever it is which prevents the site from working properly with Explorer .
If I want to post I have to switch to using Firefox for the "main " site.
I can post comments in the Gallery using Explorer though.

I think a shorter wait time between searches, it's now 30 seconds, would be an important improvement. Half that would be much much better. A minor keyboard error can make the member experience frustrating.

And a much longer edit capability, I'd say 48 hours if there was to be any limit at all.

Definitely Tapatalk if possible. I have been using it on radiopreppers.com for a long time, never had any security issues..

What changes have been made as a result of this thread?

Can anyone tell me how to search my own posts? That's my biggest issue with this forum, right now.

Besides logging in to write a message and then being logged out within the span of a few minutes. By the time I hit send, I have to log back in and get confused as to where my message went--usually it's gone.

If you have set the "Default Thread Subscription Mode" in your options to anything other than "do not subscribe", threads you have posted to will show up in Quick Links/Subscribed Threads. When I joined, one of the subscribing options seems to have been the default, but that may have changed.

One thing that can get a bit frustrating is the requirement of 30 seconds between searches. If you run a search and realize that you've made a mistake in the keywords, then you have to wait 30 seconds for the next one.

Also, sometimes, when I click on the "New Posts" I only get a few results. I am unsure why this is but I can't refresh to get more results until I wait 30 seconds :D

I find it is hard to search for a user in the gallery section. It seems to me there should be a menu for that. The Alphabetized list is not function since we have so many people.

Browsing the alphabetized list is most useful when you're not sure of the correct username you're searching.

If you do know at least one whole word of the username, then you can enter it in the text box at upper left (using the Gallery's Members menu). The results come from the RFF member list, and they may or may NOT have any photos in the Gallery.

By one whole word, I mean searching for Peter will get you usernames that include the entire word Peter but not Peters or Peterson, for instance. And entering Peters will not get you Peter or Peterson, etc.

To restrict your results to members with photos in the Gallery, use Advanced Search under the Gallery Search menu, look to the bottom of that page and in the Username box enter the whole full username. The result will show only a member with that username who has uploaded photos.

Does this help?

One thing I find (sometimes) annoying is the US date convention that this forum uses. To me 05-01-2014 is 5 January 2014, while here it is considered to be May 1, 2014. Maybe it is possible to write the date so it is clear what it is meant (May 1, 2014 in stead of 05-01-2014) or make it a user option to use the other format.

As there are a lot of non-US people on this forum, it makes sense. Btw, take a look at this wikipedia page and you'll see most people use the day-month-year format.

I think we need more film vs. digital and which lens is best arguments...

Just kidding, the site's great as is.

I know it's late, but I'll weight in on the original question:

1. Site is great; thanks to Stephen and to everyone who make it so

2. We have a fab site for conversation, words, punctuated with some photos. I would like to have it easier to see images here. I don't know how to do that, but something that would have us seeing more instances of starting with an image, supported with words rather than the other way around.

3. Better integration of classifieds with the user registration system in the rest of the site. So that it's practical to leave feedback without heroic effort. So it's easy to find current and past ads by any member. I believe both of these are quite difficult and this stems from the incomplete integration of the classified section with the rest of the site.
