The DeSoto is a 1953 and many of the shots are in Washington DC. The downtown shots look like old DC. Blair House is shown (guard in front - it's the president's guest house across from WH) and the neighborhood shots look like the area around the eastern end of Pennsylvania avenue, toward Maryland (the original suburbs), by the stadium. All these folks left for the MD/VA suburbs in a couple years.

The "Truman renovation" of the WH took place these years, ending in 1952, so I might guess this is winter of '52-'53, since it looks like their finishing up.

The beach is probably Atlantic City, NJ, simply guessing because of the age of the buildings up against the beach. You don't see that anywhere else except Miami.

The airport and fire truck shots are probably from the New Castle airport in DE - the Del Mem. bridge is in the background. The Dupont family has a lot of flyers in that area and they've sponsored antique fly-ins for generations; they're likely tied in somehow to the show.

Longshot: The guy mugging the silly hat and Collier's cover could have been the child? You could trace back to a name by that, perhaps?

Great shots! I enjoyed them all. Especially intrigueing are those in the DC area.

I would agree, don't throw those away. Those are real treasures. How cool to be able to have those in a album.
 
These are great; like the dog one especially. And, not to start any arguments, but this is the kind of serendipitous find that's just not going to happen in another 50 years or so. You won't buy old cameras or canisters and find JPEGs in them (prints, maybe!).
 
Those are awesome! My favorite part is seeing the context (cars, clothing, etc.) Very cool.

I had a similar thing happen recently. A gentleman on Craigslist sold me a box of old photos and negatives. I scanned about half of them. All taken in Michigan in the very early 1900s. Here are a few (if you don't mind). I love this sort of thing.

Unfortunately only a few more, maybe 5. I have sifted through twice and the photos I have posted and will post are the only ones most anyone will want to see. The others are just not anything other than boring family stuff, blurry, or not exposed well or a bit of all. We did ok never the less i think. Nice little treat for people like me🙂

Shorpy.com is a real find! Did you see the pictures from the 8x10" glass plates? Who cares about digital from 2000 in 100 years?

....and what about those old fashioned "all cotton" bathing suits, my Dad told me about these, just get them wet and it was like wearing a second skin, you could see all the ladies lovely endowments 😀

A neat set of from pre-war America.

There might be a mix of years from your box of prints. I believe the touring car is a 1916 Overland; a friend had one and we all loved it. They were pretty common, 2nd only to and a big step up from a Ford.

The truck looks to be ~1913 (Federal?)

The Indian single cylinder looks to be a 1909, the first year of that model (tipped by its unique graphics).
