Olive me green!

May be the Bessa R2 in green did start all of this, I don't know.

I use to not like this color but now I don't know anymore! The Bessa looks mighty tempting!

I agree that the olive Bessa R2 looks nice, BUT: it's authentic, not a later «amendment»!

BTW, olive cameras were known already at least in 1957.

According to Mr Kadlubek, the West German armed forces' reason for choosing this olive colour was not camouflage, but: protection against theft!

Reviving this thread: I've been looking at olive repainted Leicas for sale. I like their looks, except that they apparently spray the paint right over what looks to be the original vulcanite. I'm not so sure that's a good idea. I'm not so sure I like the look of it; (OK, maybe I do) but will the paint stay on the vulcanite? Is the paint chemically compatible with vulcanite? Looking back through this thread, I see reports of the olive paint falling off in large areas.

I know paint chips off here and there, and I'm ok with that. But I want to buy an olive M3 or M2 that have a professional paint job, done by someone who does it right. Did they even strip the chrome before painting?

Who has bought one of these olive repaints in the past couple of years? How are they holding up?
