Sometimes, if corrosion has not flowed into the wire, you can cut off a small section and splice another piece on. If you take a little insulation off and wire is brown or black and will not take solder, then you would have to take shutter out and probably replace that entire length of wire. Since wire attaches to the bottom of the battery box (and screw/contact have to be taken out too) you really can't avoid doing a complete job. John, www.zuiko.com
