I have uploaded some shots made with my "unpimped" Olympus 35SP shots to my flickr site, http://www.flickr.com/photos/97373293@N00/

(Let me know if the link doesn't work.)

Film was Fuji Reala 100, scanned by my lab at high res to TIFF, then processed with minimal sharpening and other controls to JPG.

The shot of Peter at the Toronto RFF meet had NO sharpening, just resizing and convert to web/jpg in PS Elements2. I was almost shocked at how sharp the shot is in the plane of focus.

One thing I have noticed about the SP is that, as far as I can discern, the Auto (program) mode seems to favour shutter speed. So when shooting with low speed film, if you need DOF you need to go to manual mode. With high speed film under bright conditions, you get DOF too. But if you want isolation and limited DOF with slower speed film, auto works well. The meter on this SP is right on, as far as I can tell. I have some K64 that I ran through the "pimped" SP that is at the lab now. Should be back sometime after Yankee turkey day.

Your link works fine. Your photos are great. I'm starting to use a lot more Reala and I'm real pleased with it. A side benefit is that it converts to superb B&W. Give it a try.

The lens on the 35SP never fails to amaze me. It's definition, sharpness, bokeh, and colour rendition are superb. Makes me seriously wonder if the 'radical improvements' in lens technology that we've so-called witnessed over the past 30-odd years is all it's cracked up to be.

Great shots btw, my favourite is DurandEastman05-2 - those colours are exceptional !

Thanks guys! rovnguy: I'll give b&w conversion a try. Between these and some K64 shots that are at Dwayne's I am looking for material for the RFF book #2.

The problem with the SP is that I want more of them! First, I'd love to have an SPn, plus at least one black body. That way I could always keep them loaded with several different types of film ... chromes (K64 & an E6), C41 (Reala and maybe Kodak 800HD), B&W (Pan F+ and an ASA 400) ... let me see, that's at least 6 bodies, right? Oh, and one less wife.

LOL! That's just greed!

I can associate with that...mine already can't figure out why I need more than one camera. Told her I need one with slide film in, one with colour print film in, one with B&W print film in....
Sadly they just don't get it! :bang: 😀

Stunning photos! That's the best capture of fall foilage I've seen this year. You did right by getting in close.

The Oly 35SP will usually out perform my Leica IIIf on a given day. Mainly, because it is a quicker camera to get into action.

By the way, is that an RF forum member shooting a Zorki 3M with the lens cap on?

That was GeneW's Zorki, but I believe Peter bought it from Gene.
He did indeed. I was sorry to see the 3M go, but what with two new Leicas to feed, not to mention worthy lenses for them ... it's time for me to start culling my inventory...

You could always rent a wife for an occasion and them put the savings into your cameras. The ladies just don't understand GAS.

There is always that one exception. The question then becomes: would she have anything to do with one of us?
