Interesting, as the only other OM body I care for, besides the OM-2n, is the OM-2S/SP, which (now former) Galfriend has and uses too seldom. That body hits the sweet spot of features and handling characteristics IMO. Let me know what you think of it if you get to borrow one.
Will do, received it now and yes lots of similarities to the OM2n, some differences, the fixed hot shoe looks much more rugged but then I tend to not keep the hot shoe on mine (my shoe 4 as with many is falling to pieces.) Looks a good camera though!
It's amazing that in spite of the attributes of the OM-4 OM-3 etc the OM-2 is pretty near perfect at a fraction of the price.
Spot metering I can take or leave personally ... yes it's more precise but you still have to work out a balance for the over all scene. I've found the OM-2 be uncannily accurate when used in auto with some common sense compensation applied occasionally.
I'm glad Vicky can now breathe easy and just look forward to her trip.
This is a great forum! 🙂
Yes, the more I think about it, the more I think actually why do you want another OM body, just for shadow and highlight buttons which in fairness I could get the same impact of by exposure compensation! It's the whole package that is so good on the OM2n, the only downside is no manual speed except B. I keep seeing references to the OM2 having one manual speed of 1/60th but my 2n's don't, I think this might be some confusion with the OM2SP which definitely does have a 1/60th manual speed. Anyway, apart from that, it's pretty much perfect with its smaller size, ergonomics (better for my smaller hands) -- the truth is, if I whisper it, I prefer using my OM2's to my M2.... hehe Heaven forbid there comes a time where I can't get colour film, I'm going to be desperately sad as I would love it if Olympus came out with a digital SLR just like an OM2 body...Oh well. Let's not worry about it and enjoy it
🙂
Agreed -- this forum is exceptional, I don't really frequent other forums that much (seldom in fact) one because of time but two, well, this forum is great!
2N is my favorite. It has all the improvements that ever went into the OM-2, I still have lots of parts for it (2 and 2N), is ultra-reliable, and never has battery drain. By the way, plain OM3/4 have same weather sealing, gaskets, o-rings as the 3Ti, 4T, 4Ti. John
Interesting stuff, the more I think about it, the more I think, actually forget another OM body, look out when the time comes for a fast wide/ultra wide, something like a 24mm f/2 or 21mm f/3.5 would be great, I'd appreciate that more anyway really. That said, at the moment, the 28mm, 50mm and 100mm lenses I have are all super!
