A handy trick for a Trip user. If you want to push your 400 speed film or use faster film like 1600ASA you need a hand held light meter. Set your hand held meter on the ASA value you want to use with your Trip and take a reading. Then find on the meter the aperture value that gives you 1/30s shutter speed (or a bit more). Set that aperture on your Trip (in flash mode) and shoot away.

I like the Trip for snaps like this one. At the moment I've got it loaded with Kodachrome 64 so I'll post a few when that's been processed - might be a month or two..

I am currently running another roll of Ektar 100 through my Trip 35. Here are a couple of shots from the Tonto National Forest in Arizona. The Trip 35 did a really good exposure job considering the very contrasty light at 6700 feet.

No, I don't expect it to be too hard. I found some good instructions online. I just haven't found the time to do it yet 🙂

I am eagerly awaiting delivery of my Trip 35, it will be my first experience with a scale-focus camera (I'm not counting the Konica C35EF that I bought that was too badly corroded to "save"). Seeing the photos posted in this thread has made me even more eager.

I had a good day today at the local flea market.

I found one working Trip 35 and one working XA.

Did I ever luck out. The XA looks kind of beat. The paint has worn off the back, but all functions are checking out on it. Shutter, aperture, battery check, timer, flash. All good.

I've not played with the Trip before. It seems to be functioning perfectly, and it's such a simple little thang.

Dang, I need to stop this insanity, people. Just because I can find and buy these cameras locally for less than a donut and coffee doesn't mean I have to......... does it?

This is my fourth XA. Although I sold the first two, the third cosmetically perfect one is dead as a paper weight.

If this latest one shoots sharp I think I might just keep it this time. But then again, if the Trip is just as sharp and is fast to boot, I don't know. I really don't mind zone focus for this type of quick shot street camera. The rangefinder on the XA isn't really all that anyway.

Lol, I always seem to manage talking myself out of keeping the XA. I don't know why since every time I sell one I wish I hadn't.

But the Trip.... hmmm. 😛

I had a long row of Olympus fixed lens rangefinders. Sold every one of them except the Trip. I've used the Trip for B&W over the years but recently I did some colour negs too.

need to try it on daylight shots, but these are with Fuji Xtra 400, and f2.8:

Second shot converted in Silver Efex Pro. Going to use a Trip tomorrow at
a Halloween dance, will see what shakes.

Yes, I was surprised at the results. Great little camera for night shots.
