thanks, was always turned on with the design of the fixed lens rf olys of that vintage, just wanted to give it justice

Nice! always appreciate people who took the time to produce a nice camera fashion shots.

And that's a mint looking RC!

Oh no it doesn't :)

The RC is the king of compact RFs, and possibly my favourite ever 35mm camera.

Ian

I just picked up a 35RC from g'man and I surprised to see that it's such a tiny little bugger! The only other compact 35's I've handled are of the Canonet variety, but this one is noticably smaller.

I love the VF and general setup of the camera, but I'm having trouble holding it comfortably since its so small. It could be the fact that I'm 6'7" and have hands to match :D I'm going to take it on the street a few more times and see how I feel after that.

Now I'm questioning whether my aspirations of owning a CL or CLE should be kicked to the curb! A camera can have all the right features, but if it doesn't feel right in your hands then it's as useful as... well... something that's not very useful :bang:

John, if I had to choose between an RC and my M6/Summicron 50, it would be a lot closer than you might think.

Hope yours is in good condition. The light seals are often in need of replacement, and I've also had the frame counter stop working on both of mine, but with a bit of TLC it's a great camera, with a terrific lens, and small enough to carry everywhere. (Edit: too small for Chris, it seems!)

Ian

i have had mine since about 1971, bought new. i even have the original oly filter and cap still.

a few years ago i had it cla'd locally for 100 bucks cdn. and the finder was cleaned up nicely.
runs like a top.

Recently I'm a happy owner of an rc and ecr. The second one is full automatic. After the forst roll I'm very satisfied. and yes very stylish cameras :)

Ahhh, so refreshing to see new (or not) Oly fans. I used to wonder am I crazy thinking by myself (well, Trius and I) that Oly RF's are high-class cameras that will go head-to-head with the best out there.

One day, a $10 RC will fly into my hands, one of these days... :p

Eat your heart out - just got a £2 RC off ebay.
Arrived this morning!
But it was described as parts or repair!
And that was stretching it a bit.
But I wanted the bottom plate to replace one on which some guy had 'engraved' his name and number. And I got that. The camera is not really a goer. But the back door is great, the self timer handle is all present and correct.
And I intend to look at the insides to see how they work - it's a non-goer so it doesn't matter if I can't get it together again! What's called a learning situation!!

The camera looks as if it has had some sort of accident. The lens is loose in its housing and the front element is scratched tp h*ll. There is a dent in the bottom. The rangefinder eyepiece is distorted as if partially melted and the whole camera covered in an odd deposit. I could spend ages thinking up implausible explanations for its condition but I'll probably never guess right.

Nevertheless a good £2 worth.

I've decided that my RC is my favourite camera. It's just so satisfying to use, and the results are brilliant. My light seals have gone to hell though, so I'm replacing them with a Jon Goodman (nice guy, great customer service) kit later this week. Should be fun. Then my RC will be good as new.

Well, Ian and Charles, I hope your right, I just bought one on Ebay: $21.00 + shipping of $8.50.
Hello charjohncarter, I hope you won't waste those 30 bux, or may I say that I'm sure you won't because for this price you get a very useful and yet completely controllable tiny discreet and stylish camera.
Bought mine 6 months ago for 60 euro, tight and with new light seals and battery. on the high price side maybe but the camera is flawless except the dirty viewfinder. Great lens, and I love the 3 blades iris in the lens. I love having a lightweight and manual little inexpensive camera with me in many situations where the CL or the M4 stays at home. Im loving the RC as much as I love my other cameras, just different type of shooting experience : shooting with a rolleicord 3 sporting a recoated taking lens is also a must, for me its the best medium format camera for discret shooting of people (the rolleicord being light and inexpensive too)!

You can get your money back if you sell on the parts, e.g. if the meter works...
