I would file it on all sides, to make it look as close to the other mounting 'tabs' as possible.

I would smooth it with a file but be very careful not to get any debris onto the rear lens or any other nearby holes. If necessary I would cover possible entry points with tape before starting.

My goodness....the OM1 & Zuiko 50mm 1.4 (with leather full case and lens case) I recently found on Craigslist here in Seattle was in absolutely mint condition, barely used, a bargain at $150 - and it takes superb pictures!

Recently I picked up a like-new OM-10 with a "Made In Japan" 50mm f1.8. I was cuirous about it due to the internet rumors that surround this version, for kicks I mounted it on my m4/3 camera to look at bokeh and sharpness compared to an old "silver nose" and so far find them to be practically identical in the IQ department, despite the different formula and coatings. If anyone is interested I can try getting a tripod comparison posted here...

On an unrelated note, I gotta say in defense of the OM-10, it's a really nice camera. Sure there's no metal on the body, it's a bit ugly, the shutter is less refined, and the MF adapter is a bit silly. But that focusing screen is gorgeous! It's like someone removed a veil of fog from my OM-1's microprism-matte screen and turned up the brightness. Most of the time I want to shoot aperture priority anyway and the OM-10 just goes. Less to worry about in terms of the battery too. All in all looking forward to using this one!

the OM focusing screens vary significantly in quality IMO.
I use a 2-4 and a 1-5, though I may replace the latter with a 1-4n eventually, and I find the 1-5 to be leagues better than the usual 1-13 and the 2-4 is in a league of it's own. Better than an M viewfinder IMO.

I just wanted to tell you about my excellent experience with a guy in the UK who did a VERY nice CLA on my OM2n.
He did the usual magic with the meter, shutter speeds and cleaned it up thoroughly; greased the things to grease and I got back a camera that feels like new. Changed the prism as well, as the old one had some marks from decomposing foam.
He kept me up to date by mail and even called to ask if he should replace the prism - excellent service!
All this for a VERY good price (£ 65 + postage).
