Ona Bowery Bag

I have to agree with you Joe, the BBBe will hold that bit more than the Ona and probably is a better bet as an everyday bag. It's a larger, slimmer bag with more secure pockets. I don't have an ipad mini so wouldn't know about fitting one in the Ona. The Bowery is more of a one camera bag plus room for bits like keys etc for me.

i can fit my entire fuji kit into both bags. one body & 4 lenses…but i have the smaller lenses.
i really like both bags…the leather ona is beautiful, the canvas ona is so comfortable and the bbbe carries that little bit extra a bit easier…

i have found bag peace at last!

How about the cushions/insert at the side? The insert in the middle looks good and thick, but anyone could please tell me whether the side cushions are the same to the middle (in terms of thickness) or not?

Thanks for showing me this brand !

And yeah, i admit, i have problems regarding bags. I Love them !

The black bowery seems pretty perfect to go out a bit lighter than with the Hadley pro.

Joe,

I think you mentioned it once before but I've forgotten: Is the back pocket large enough to fit an iPad mini easily?

thx

I swore off bags but I rather like the leather model. My experience with the messenger style is that once loaded, they gap out at the two ends, making a open space that allows dust and rain to enter. I see some extra material on these that maybe prevents this - how is it working? When it's got a full/heavy load does it "open up" at the corners or do they have coverage?

the ona?
the ipad mini can fit but about 3/4 of an inch sticks out.
it fits perfectly inside the bag…i made a cardboard divider that runs the length of the bag and makes a pocket.
i wrote to ona suggesting that they make a proper divider...

Okay, thanks.

Hmm. The dimensions work well for the E-M1 without the battery grip fitted, but once you fit the battery grip the camera becomes tall enough that the Bowery may not fit easily with my most used lenses in place.

I'll have to do some measurements when I get home this eve.

No, it doesn't open up at the corners.
I don't bring my iPad as I got a good 4" phone for any internet connectivity. I can't see the need to bring an iPad (mini) in a camerabag like this.... Different people, different needs, I guess.

Well, I decided not to in the end. Why? Because I have enough bags that fit the kind of gear that the Ona Bowery fits, and I didn't have a bag that fits my new camera with the battery grip fitted.

So with great distaste and annoyance, I went back to the camera shop and ripped into their bag shelves once again. I've come to hate buying bags. So much promise, so little usefulness. The question becomes not what does the job best but what's going to piss me off least before I dump it.

Anyway, the Think Tank Photo Citywalker 10 looks like it will do the job well enough. Such it is.

Godfrey the TT Citywalker 10 is a nice bag. The materials are so lightweight and enough pockets to be useful. However, for my small Xpro kit I find it too big. Hence I've only used it three times and has been listed in the classifieds a while back (no takers tho).
I wrote to TT to ask them to make another bag with a slimmer profile and they replied they'd take my idea into consideration. They didn't make one but turned out the Mirrorless mover range instead. Still not what I want.
But I can recommend the TT bags on the whole.

i'd get the 20…just slightly bigger but holds more than the 10...

I've had a couple of TT bags in the past. Both bought and used for largish DSLR kits, too bulky for the gear I've been carrying about in the past couple of years, but good solid bags with quality stitching, hardware, and design.

I looked at the Citywalker 20 and it was simply much larger than I had any use for. The big issue I needed another g**d** bag for is that the E-M1 fitted with HLD7 simply becomes too tall a rig for any of the 10-15 other bags (!!) I have currently. They're all sized around the Leica M, GXR, etc: work great with the E-M1 when I have just the 14 or 25mm lens on it, but fit the grip and the 11-22 or any of the Leica R lenses and the camera sits on my desk looking for a place to live.

The Retrospective 7 also fit the camera, but differed from the CW 10 in being a bit bulkier on material, not space, and put the tablet slot in the back rather than in the front. From experience, I know that having the tablet in the back is a bad idea: the bag cannot conform to your side or back, it becomes a flat thing.

It'll work, and not piss me off too much. When I get annoyed enough with it, I'll find something else. If it doesn't, I'll use it til it falls apart or I sell it with the camera. That's how it goes with bags... ;-)

Frankly, imagining that lovely strap on the Rollei is what sold me! I think the package will be a knockout. Is there a bagp0rn thread on site?
