One lens for my M2, what is the choices ?

The one lens that I haven't seen mentioned here is the Canon 35 mm 2.8. It is relatively low contrast, but my example is sharp and the size and handling are great. In 50 mm, don't overlook the Canon 1.8. Both are likely to be available in your budget.

Again, what Tom said. J12 can be an inexpensive short term solution (and perhaps even a permanent solution) while searching for a Canon 35f2 (on camera) or Serenar/Canon f2.8 (chrome version shown), as Bruce suggests.

As much as i'd want to have one Summicron or -lux, i just can't pay for it.
I have made a deal of a CV 35/2.5 PII with shade that is within my original budget and i think i can begin with this.
I was offered an Ultron 35/1.7 also, but the owner said it was soft (he had 2 of them) and he could not figure out what caused it, so i passed as it was a bit high prized anyway.

On my M2 is a 28 Summicron and it is not at all a bad company.

Shalom.

** Sorry, the HTC phone picture it's a rubbish one.
