Hello,
The 50/1.5 Nokton has a very good reputation. But CV also offers
the Color Skopar 50/2.5, which is much smaller, and focuses closer
than the Nokton. I would like to know if anyone has an opinion about
the performance of the color skopar 50/2.5.
Best,
Pau

I picked one up from another RFF member recently and have taken only a few shots with it at the end of a roll of colour neg film. It seems to be very sharp with good colour rendition. It has a focusing tab, which I like but some other do not.

I would consider the f1.5 lens to be better suited to landscape photography as its a very sharp lens. The wider aperture is also useful if you are into low light photography. It is one and a half stops brighter, but is quite a bit bigger and heavier.

The f2.5 lens is a 'kinder' lens and is the better choice if you want to use it for portraiture/people shots. Some people have said that this lens is soft... This doesn't mean that its not a sharp lens, quite the reverse. It has something of the 'creamy' effect that you get in many medium format lenses.

The f2.5 lens is quite heavy for its size and the focussing tab is really nice to use (once you get used to it). It does keep your fingers out of the viewfinder!

The f1.5 lens does intrude into the 50mm frame a little, the f2.5 doesn't... If that bothers you. It has a normal focussing ring.

My father has a Bessa R and is considering purchasing a 50mm CV lens to go with his 35mm lens. I have advised him to go for the f2.5 as I think it will suit his style of photography. He spends a lot of time in Italy and I think a 'kinder' lens will work really well there. It also means that he won't have to carry so many filters as both his 35mm lens and the 50mm f2.5 take 39mm filters.

It doesn't matter which lens you go for... You'll always wonder if the other one was the better choice.

It happens to all of us!

I've had the 50/2.5 for a few years now. It delivers a somewhat smooth, painterly rendition. Sometimes, it seems to lose details in highlights, but I'm no lens tester. Its a certain signature look that can be used to good effect. I've only shot B&W with this lens, so I can't comment on color, but I imagine the lens's signature might be even more pleasing in color.

It's built remarkably well, and the size is just right. In the intervening years, I've picked up a CV 50/1.5 and a Leica current 50/2. Lately, I've been shooting mostly with the latter.

From time to time of think of selling mine, but I never quite get around to it.

Sorry to bump this thread, I'm just needing to put a pic made with the 50/2.5 up and I don't have it together enough to make a gallery yet.. I cropped the left off some..
