The worst error handling that cripples the M Monochrom in the cold- the shutter stutter. Fire the camera, the shutter cocks multiple times, to the point where I've dropped the battery . I stopped using the M Monochrom in weather 60F and below. Use it when it is warm, or indoors. Repeatable, and has affected multiple RFF members from years ago. You think Leica would have fixed such a glaring error- but did not. My camera had it before and after the upgrade to the new CCD and sensor board, and still has it. My Nikon N8008 would lock up to the point where the batteries had to be dropped: shoot to the exact end of film. Next shot- no partial advancement, and the camera could not sense it needed to rewind the film. Manual rewind mode incapacitated, and the power switch was non-functional. Lock-Up, drop batteries, re-insert after a few seconds, and immediately press the two buttons for manual rewind.
I suspect Leica re-used that subroutine for the M Monochrom.

Well-known
I have zero experience with an M11, but if I were trying to troubleshoot the problem, and attempting to rule out a software/firmware issue, I'd expect many cameras that share the same firmware/software to have the same failure mode(s). Same source of problem, same failure mode(s)
OTOH if the failure characteristics seem to be unique to each camera, I would suspect unique problems, such as cold solder joints occurring at different points in the circuitry for each camera, or possibly susceptiblity to RF or current leakage resulting from shoddy board manufacturing or population.

I've been using an M11 in temperatures of -17C over the last few weeks without any problems. Mind you, at those temps my walks are only about 45 minutes long..

I've been walking with the M10 Monochrom and M10-R all winter in temps between 25°F and 55°F, and in damp or dry. Not a single "shutter stutter" to be had. Must be something to do with the M9 generation body, shutter release, or firmware, but I don't recall it from my M9 either, or any of the Ms in between.

The M9s definitely stutter. It’s linked to how quickly the camera cools down, not just how cold it is.

Interesting. I guess I never got mine hot. I'm not a very fast shooter, nor do I do sequence shooting with the camera set to "continuous mode" very often.
