I don't think I've seen one of these in this thread. I have a couple frames left in this guy before I can see what sorta results it gives but I expect it to do very well.
Fuji DL-300 Date by eurekaiv, on Flickr
Back in the day when I was a retail salespuke, I sold a bunch of these. I really loved the drop-in loading. And Fujinon lenses are always worth at least a shot.
That's not surprising... I enjoyed using the camera and it's every bit as capable as any similar spec'd compact. I'm sure the latter is the reason its not more common or more popular. The UC1s and mjus of the world offer similar specs in much "neater" packages. The lens seems fine but none of my photos were good enough, or of the right subject matter to make any concrete conclusions about it. If they were a bit more common, I imagine they'd make a great alternative for a fast-ish, prime P&S at a bargain price, but nothing comes up on eBay for current or completed auctions, so I've no way to judge what the value of one might be.
The hard-wired lithium battery is what keeps this little camera from cult status. Not too difficult to remedy, but enough to turn-off the casual buyer when other similar cameras are plentiful.
No offense Gerry, but this has got to be the strangest-looking camera I've ever seen. The ergonomics seems to be for frogs.😱
ETA I think that the DL200 with the 30mm lens was the camera that I meant to reference.
