P&S camera porn

Hi guys,

Long time lurker, first time poster here. 🙂

Received Olympus LT Zoom 105 in the mail yesterday. Haven't shot a roll through it yet, but it is simply the most gorgeous camera I've owned. All-weather, burgundy faux-leather skin, shiny chrome surface, and one-way automatic lens cover--it oozes class. Hopefully it'll shoot as beautifully as it looks. 🙂

Yes, (the camera is an LX3 which does not have an optional viewfinder) . Yesterday was actually my first day trip with that gizmo but I've had in a drawer for months. I cannot use the LCD screen . . . I hate it (love the camera though).

Took it for a day trip - sunny day at the sea shore. I ended up taking it off after about 6 shots . . . I found it too clumsy to handle, folding it and unfolding it. Other than that it works fine, but I won't use it again. My next P&S must have a viewfinder.

Thanks for the link. It's an interesting idea.

I've been looking for a cheaper alternative to the Panasonic viewfinder for my LX5, and haven't found one yet. However, during the search, I've come across non-electric viewfinders like these:

I know it doesn't go wide enough for LX3 and LX5, and it's more than what I want to pay, but it looks pretty neat for other cameras/uses.

I have a couple of compacts with "optical viewfinders", a new Nikon P7000 and an old Canon A570. They both allow me to at least point the camera in the right direction of the subject. How about one of those VF that are held on the hot shoe?
 
Yes, I have a few external viewfinders that I had hoped to mount on the hot shoe.
But (1) they are only good when the camera is set at the 3:2 aspect ratio and (2) the LX3 cannot be set to a very specific focal length to match the viewfinder (the zoom setting is indistinct).

saw this yesterday on a flea market and bought it because of its 28mm fl and the big viewfinder.

af, 28/5.6 lens, fixed 1/100 shutter speed, selftimer, takes two 1.5V AA batteries.

on the web i havent found much about it. seems to be nikon's final non-zoom model for 35mm film, introduced 2002.

the pictures, made by this cam and the similar af240sv, i saw on flickr, doesnt look so bad, but with soft edges.
 
I like the flash buttons on the front.

It looks kinda small but when you say it takes 2 AA batteries, that might be from the picture and the rather big finder.

and...No, i have no plan to use a 50asa film underwater...just thought the color matches.
