... whose images have caused me to look more carefully where my feet are going, for they might otherwise walk right over a shot-making opportunity:

Well I'm glad that someone started this thread, because I have studied petronius's photos for quite a while now, with an eye to what I can learn from them. Here's a guy that seems to take a lot of pictures and considers all possibilities. Both he and many others on RFF have influenced me since I joined in January. For sure I am thinking outside the box a bit more and taking more pictures.

+1 on this thread. Petronius has a unique and personal style that reflects a very deep way reading the world.

and, Chris Crawford is also a favorite of mine.

Looking down is only part of it IMO ... the important part is actually 'looking!'

Petronius has been an absolute inspiration to me also ... he doesn't seem to post much in threads these days I've noticed ... but he speaks volumes in the gallery with his photos.

This is a good choice for a thread.
Seeing and visualizing and then seeing again can be very revealing.

GREAT ONE Robert & Joe ....How True Raid

Homage to Petronius...Shadow, Grit, Found Object :)

helen, if the shoe fits, wear it (or is that, if the glove fits you must acquit???).

on the topic of found objects in NYC, years ago, actually before I met her, my wife was catching some rays on a pier downtown on the west side when a bloated body drifted by. she called the local constabulary who promptly fished out our floater. the coppers (or more like morgue/coroner fellas) said, "no big deal. we find these all the time." there are eight million naked bodies in the storied city... well, that's not quite right, but you know what I mean.

in any case, glad the found shoe didn't have a foot in it.

I came upon these gloves about a mile or so apart while on my bike. they actually appear to be a match. no hands in them though.
