There is one in Excellent+ condition available from Keh.com. I don't know what do you want to use the lens for but it's not the best candidate for portrait work because of its rather long 5m minimum focus. And the dedicated close-up lenses are rare as hens' teeth..

Yes, I'm going to do portraits. They have dedicated close-up lenses? I was just going to get a set of extension tubes and see which one worked.

Sorry for the delay but I just saw your post.

Congratulations on the acquisition. For portraits, using a dedicated close-up lens is much easier than using extension tubes:
  • A close-up lens does not require exposure correction, whereas extension tubes "absorb" light and require a longer exposure / faster aperture.
  • Extension tubes need the lens to be removed first before being installed, while close-up lenses just screw on the front filter thread of the lens.
  • Extension tubes are much bulkier than close-up lenses.
The Pentax T226 is a 67mm dedicated close-up lens for the 200mm F/4.0 but it can also be used on the 300mm. There are of course other close-up lenses, but very few come in 67mm diameter and are real achromats (2 element combos for better correction of aberrations). The other issue is that most close-up lenses are designed to be used with shorter lenses, so they have more optical power (like 2, 3 or even 10 diopter). The Pentax T226 is 0.45 diopter, which is more suitable for portraiture with a 300mm lens. Magnification for infinity focus is the diopter times the focal length in meters, so it is 0.135x for the 300mm lens at infinity with a 0.45 diopter close-up attachment, about the same magnification as the 105mm lens focused to 1 meter.

The only problem is that the T226 is not made anymore and its lucky owners don't want to part with their precious possession...

The lens was previously converted to a PL mount so I took that off and tried to make my own mount from adapters. After realizing I couldn't get it slim enough so it can focus to infinity, I outsourced it to have someone recreate a new custom rear mount so it can focus properly. Other than changing the bodies mount, there's no quick DIY and/or adapter to use hassy lenses on pentax bodies.

Interesting! Have you heard about The Bokeh Factory? Seems they do some custom lens mount conversions, including for Pentax 6x7.

Ops, I meant a PL mount. Used for a Cine Camera.

Yes I have heard of them. At the time they were trying to convert the planar 80 f2 Contax lens and didn't work out. I've reached out to them for some help and resources and wasn't to their best interest to convert it.
 
I got trapped by this thread and now own a Pentax 67 MLU w/90mm f2.8. I really want to get the 45mm f4 and a 105 f2.4 (just because of the reputation and images I've seen). I REALLY did not need another system, but these images and me missing my old Mamiya 7ii brought me back. Heading to Moab in a few weeks, so that might be the perfect time to try it out.
 
The 105mm strikes me as meh. Wide open at medium distances makes pretty harsh bokeh. I’d recommend the 75mm f/2.8.
 
that's just regular lens behavior. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

if a lens makes harsh bokeh wide open, it'll smoothen out if you stop down 2 stops.

the 75mm f/2.8 doesn't have that problem. on the longer end of things, the 150mm f/2.8 is really good, too.
