Thank you, Mike! I have four of the beasts (two 6x7 and two 67II), long-time favorites to use. I like the way they handle. But I don't shoot film any more. The fine lenses still get occasional use on the Leica S2.

While it looks admittedly cool - is it overall better than cropping a 6x7?
I have the kit to use 35mm film in the 6x7, and it is kinda cool. Also inconvenient to unload at the end of the roll, there being no provision for rewind. But the viewfinder cropping adapter does make it easy to frame within the pano borders. OTOH, just cropping the 120/220 film frame is much more flexible as to borders. On yet another hand, if you have a bunch of 35mm film to use up, and a shortage of 120/220 in your fridge, then it's useful!
Would this kind of pano be a good occasion to use the Pentax 4/45mm lens?

Better? Probably not. More fun? Definitely yes, for me. Like Doug mentions, it's a great deal more kludgy, as loading and unloading requires a few extra steps. With the viewfinder cropping adapter, I found it to be a challenging creative exercise to compose in a super wide aspect ratio that I'm not used to. I wouldn't do it for general use, but load it up with something in mind, and have fun for a day!
One advantage over cropping is that you can get 18-19 pano frames per 36 exposure roll. Also, I can't afford or justify an Xpan, so this will have to do. If you plan to do street photography as you would with an Xpan, this setup is not discreet at all.
I don't have the 45/4, but I have a few shots upthread with the 55/3.5. The 45mm would be even wider!
