Pentax 67 Gas!

I profoundly regretted selling my 67II and lenses almost immediately and I’m finally in a position to get back into the system. Looking at late model 67 bodies now rather than the 67II this time for longevity and repairability.

Hopefully I’ll be back amongst these ranks soon!

Nice, remember the extension tubes (no hurry). I hope you are all safe.

Thank you, John, that's very generous of you! I'm not sure when I'll get around to picking them up, so please don't feel obliged to hold it for me. If you know someone else who wants it, or can make good use of it, by all means pass it to them. As it is, I have way too much gear and not nearly enough time to use it all. :p

taking receipt of a 90mm LS lens, I notice the front portion of the lens barrel before the focusing ring has some play in it. as i rack focus that portion of the barrel moves a few mm until it settles throughout the focus range. i assume this is from years of previous use of the leaf shutter, cocking the shutter and torquing the lens. will this have any affect on photos? worth getting fixed?

Sorry to hear! I don't have my 90/2.8 LS anymore, so I can't compare in hand, but that doesn't sound normal to me. Can you return it? I don't think the lens is particularly rare or expensive, so getting it repaired might cost the same or more than finding a working copy. I sold mine recently for <$160.

i'll try to return it if i can. i paid a bit more i think 180. it's been a few weeks since i've gotten around to using it. it seems to work ok, i just shot one roll with it and some shots a bit soft, unsure if it's my handiwork or the lens. but the focus marks hit right on. i paid a little more i think 190 but the leaf shutter functions very well and seems accurate, glass is perfect so could be worth saving. i know not all of them work perfectly at this age. i got a quote for $45 to fix the issue but i'd have to ship it, may look for a cheaper local option.

your pics are lovely, inspired me to spring for a 105mm

Gawd I love the Pentax 6x7 system, I really haven't shot it enough this last summer...
Think I might go for some B&W work this fall! :D :D

Thank you, appreciate the kind words. I had the 90/2.8 as my "starter lens", and it performed great while I had it. I've shared some images from the 90/2.8 here on this thread a few pages back. Of course, I could not resist the 105/2.4, but I waited until I found a good deal. If your 90/2.8 seems to work ok, maybe just ask the seller for a partial refund and use it in the meantime? As heavy as it is, the 6x7 does take a bit more careful shooting. But when you nail it, the results are fantastic.

I have also not shot mine enough this past year, only two rolls so far. Of course, being stuck at home sheltering in place because of COVID-19 hasn't helped... you may be a bit better off in Europe compared to California.

Great portrait, the tubes are still yours whenever you want them. I also have a lens that I think you might enjoy (again free). That is a really sweet image don't lose this negative. You will want it when you are my age.

Do you or anyone else know whatever happened to Keith that started this thread? I checked the search but couldn't find anything.

Thank you, John. Those are my parents, so definitely a treasured image. :)

The Mods have wondered as well, so I sent an email to Keith on Sept 15 with no reply as yet.

Hopefully the OP is well, and just taking a break from the forum to attend to other things...
