I think (this is just me theorizing) that monochrome sensors would require some special programming for these modern, AI-based (or at least AI is the buzzword used) noise reduction features. A lot of the noise off a Bayer sensor is chroma noise, and there's no chroma noise on monochrome sensors. I suppose ay NR system that people can run film photos through could also work with the Pentax. Thanks, no rush. Just curious. I was thinking DXO DeepPrime but see it doesn't support the monochrome (can probably be tricked with EXIF though) and I have a couple of others I'd try it with. I suspect those should clean up really nicely.
I really like DeepPRIME output for my K-1, it matches that FF sensor extremely well.

Maybe, but in some NR systems you can adjust chroma and luma NR independently which should work fine for a monochrome file. Just curious to see how they do really.

It's a new kiosk made of some nice woodwork, set up at Westlake Center in Seattle. I'm not sure what it's for, but it has nice design.Beautiful tones.
What is this object?

Monochrome cameras (and a few others like Fuji X-Tran) use Linear DNG files. The headers are different. I've found several "try-Me" type software packages do not handle linear DNG. The file format is trivial, just not implemented by many packages. Thanks, no rush. Just curious. Sigma Quattros use Linear DNG too. I have a number of programs that can handle it.
I found a review site that had test photos taken with a K3 Mark III Monochrome and the same shot taken on a K3 Mark III. Interesting to compare them side by side. Unfortunately nothing really high ISO.

Thank you. I spent the best part of 17 years in that office. It has a north facing window and the light was really beautiful in winter. I have maybe 250 test shots like this, but this is the best one.Excellent composition, really like this.
