Found a good price for the M 50/1.7 so I snapped it up. My K1000 has the 50/2 but I understand the f1.7 model is considered sharper? Looking forward to using it!

The 50/1.7 is a very good lens, I have it in M and A version and was my main lens in the ME Super decades ago
The A version works with the DSLRs very well, but with the new K3-iii you can use the M and K series lenses as well with light metering.
I am going to take the plunge and try out a K-1 mkII, for a trial period. I have no idea whether I'll be able to take to using such a heavy camera, but I definitely want to see how film era glass from Pentax feels on a FF sensor. I've shot a little on a KP but it's not the same when you're getting a crop.
Old gate, Oregon.
Personally, I don't give a damn about what this was shot with (even though I shoot with a Pentax). The image is so overwhelmingly charming and lovely that tech info doesn't matter!
…the (in)famous Super Takumar 55mm f1.8.
This is a really beautiful image! Did you use a filter or postprocessing to get these colors?
Fantastic work either way!
I’ll bite! Why is the Super Tak 55/f1.8 infamous?
I like that - although B&W, it reminds me of the Georges Seurat painting Un dimanche après-midi à l'Île de la Grande Jatte. Very festive.
It's reputed to have a radioactive coating on certain serial numbers. See https://camerapedia.fandom.com/wiki/Radioactive_lenses
Probably harmless, but kinda cool...errr I mean hot.
