Pentaxians... Any out there?

Been also lusting for the K28/f2 but it is so expensive and hard to find now.
Don't know if I should settle for the inferior M version.
I have the following on my repertoire
M 28mm 2.8, 35mm 2.8, 50mm 1.4, 50mm 2, 50mm 1.7, 135mm 3.5
K 55mm 1.8

I haven't been lucky enough to own the K28/f2, but I do own the M28/f2 and I wouldn't describe it as 'inferior', rather that the K is unusually exceptional.

I've used the Super Takumar 28/f3.5, M28/f2.8 and M28/f3.5 (and the G.Zuiko 28/f3.5) and the M28/f2 is a decent bit better than all of them.

I was looking to buy an SMC-A 50 1.7, so I can use it on my P30T in the program mode.
The "perfect condition" one that showed up had a broken aperture dial. I could only turn it from 1.7 to 8, it would not go past that.
Then a little deeper dive research shows this to be a common problem, they are poorly made at least in the aperture dial and break like this. So, it looks like it's either a 1.4 or be happy using it with my non A lenses.

Huss, the SMC Pentax-A 50/2 lens is very good, especially for the price.
IMO it is a serious contender for the "Best bang for the buck" lens around.
It doesn't suffer the same problem you encountered with your A50/1.7 lens.

Thanks Chris! I'll look into those.

Nice work Huss. The P30t is a great camera.
I know you like the Pentax-M 40/2.8, and if you want to shoot Program mode with the P30t, you should check out the Pentax-DA 40/2.8 Limited. It works great with the P30t.

Great shot Colton, I reckon that’s one of your best interns of composition

Huss, I have a couple of P3n cameras (mostly the same). One I bought new, the other is a backup. I really like these cameras: auto exposure, aperture priority, shutter priority, or set the aperture and the shutter. Mine have proved to be tough, but there are a couple of niggles but all in all a great format.

What I really like is the aperture priority and leave the shutter selector on 'A.'

I’m pretty sure they are all the same camera. I read someplace about complaints of them being plasticky and lightweight. Yeah they are plastic but have a really nice solid heft to them and have excellent handling. They are really enjoyable to use and the only bummer is not being able to manually set ISO.
Touches like the battery cap are excellent - a hinged cover. Who actually wants to deal with unscrewing a cap?
Prices on these lumps are superb too. Just ordered a Tamron 90 2.5 and 35-80 2.8 for it.

The 50 f2 came in. Aperture ring etc feels ok! Very nice size lens, already on my P30T.

My P3N and P30T bodies are my only DX-only cameras without override.

I purchased some DX recoder labels from Firstcall Photographic in UK.
I plan to use them on reusable reloadable cassettes for bulk loading.

https://www.firstcall-photographic.co.uk/search/recoder?search=recoder

I purchased them so that I can shoot 5222 in any/all of my cameras.
Along with ISO 200 coded I also bought 400 and 800 for other faster BW films.

Like others the Pentax bodies set ISO 100 when no DX code is present.

While maybe not a true Takumar, the Pentax-M 50/1.4 is a good lens.
