Pentaxians... Any out there?

So I just bought two ME Super's and one Spotmatic SPII at auction. One includes a MEII winder and all come with cases.

Lenses included are the standard 50mm F/1.7 with one of the Super's and the other has an interesting Tamron Adaptall-2 35-70mm F/3.5 Model 17A. The Spotmatic has the SMC Takumar 50mm F/1.4

Of course, having to buy online rather than in person at the auction does throw up many possibilities in terms of what the true condition of the cameras is but I figured it was worth a go. I'll be in touch again when I get them.

That Tamron 35-70mm is a great lens...super sharp and a macro to boot...
I bought mine from an antique store, paid very little for it and was blown away by the first few images...its a keeper...I hope yours is as good...
Pretty sure this is from that lens...

I must admit I have quite a few Pentax lenses in M42 and in PK mount. I have on a few occasions been tempted to buy a Pentax DSLR just for the sheer joy of being able to use these lenses without a large obtrusive lens adapter. (OK I realize it is not strictly true with M42 lenses that an adapter is not needed but my point is it is not large and obtrusive.) And PK lens can just be mounted as a native lens.

A few from my early M42 collection.

Pentax SV, Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 55/f1.8 and HP5+

Very nice image, I always have trouble with these. Here in California I shoot mostly on sunny days because that's what we have. So something like this is difficult for me. Therefore, a 'well done' from me.

Have owned Pentax SLR's and DSLR's. Love them. Hope they stay around forever, but I am too far down the Leica rabbit hole to revisit those wonderful rigs.

I came across this image as I was browsing. It's a lovely image and it's great to see a Pentax SV still in action. It was my very first SLR and I bought it off a friend in Singapore in 1966 who was desperate to upgrade to the Topcon RE Super with it's TTL metering system. I also got a 28mm f3.5 Super Takumar as part of the deal. Superb camera and lenses.

The SV with a Super Takumar 28mm is a wonderful combo. To be honest the SV is just about my absolute favourite mechanical SLR, it’s such a classy camera :)

Agreed :)
Although, the Leicaflex SL shares the favorite spot alongside the SV for me. The big plus the Pentax has over the Leicaflex is that the Takumar lenses are so much more affordable, and for real world use they are nearly every bit as good.

Here are a couple of shots from my Pentax SL, shot on FP4+ with my 105mm f/2.8 Super Takumar and a yellow filter:

I really enjoy shooting with this meterless camera. I shot the entire roll using Sunny 16 and did not even use the light meter app on my phone. Every shot was perfectly exposed.

I could not agree with you more Colton. I switched from Nikon to Pentax years ago after I compared side by side shots from my Nikon lenses to those from my wife's Spotmatic. The pics from the Takumars looked better to me, and seeing the results from the 35mm ƒ3.5 Super Tak convinced me to go with Pentax.

I really like the look and mood of those photos.

As for Pentax DSLR’s, I say get one! For only $10 last year my camera-repair friend sold me an old Pentax K10D (from 2006). Handling it, I was very impressed on how my hands fell naturally on its uncluttered back and how ergonomic it was. Much better than my Fuji X-Pro1 or Nikon D700. Even before reading the instruction manual, I was impressed on how well designed and straightforward it was to use. True, it’s “only” 10MP, but its CCD delivers nice images and the K10D is my favorite digital camera to use (I bought the 35/2.4 lens - sort of a kit lens, but it is high quality).

Today, I believe the K-1 mk II is their top camera, but I’d say anything from 2006 onward is fun and rewarding to use.

I started with a Pentax SP 500 over 40 years ago and have since added an SV, a Spotmatic, an Auto 110, and a 6x7.
