Not sure if its on Mark Tucker's website but he and other's I've seen (Mark uses a medium format), would set up on a street corner, prefocus a wide angle, and ask people to step in the right spot and he'll take their photograph. I'm sure somewhere on the web its out there.
I can't remember the name but someone with a similar setup and 8x10 used to do that.
