I heard from the local repair guys that had happened. I didn’t know it was me 😂🤣Well to be fair, I did try once but it broke my lens. 🤣

Bruce Gilden's work, and probably Bruce himself, are loathsome. Arbus' is a very complex can of worms, and I'm both drawn to it and repulsed. Maybe that's its power.Sorry but I hate Bruce Gilden's work - I just find it somewhat unpleasant to look at. And his style of photography is no better - shoving a camera with flash in someone's face is not what I would ever want to do. Same with a lot of Dianne Arbus' work, now that I think about it. 😳😳😖
For me photography (at least my photography) is about trying to create something aesthetic and even beautiful if possible (not that I often succeed.) 🤪
Definitely bots and scammers. The profile photos of such accounts are usually stolen from other accounts, and they are usually lures to engage someone in conversation to get money/ID info.Dear Retro-Grouch,
Which brings me to another pet peeve. On social media it seems sometimes that the gender roles have been reversed? But maybe it's bots, or fake profile people hoping to snag a sucker?
I say that because every single week on Instagram I am friended by large breasted women who would literally run into a 6 lane highway in front of speeding semi's if they ever met me in person.
... and I thought that she loved me 🙂Definitely bots and scammers. The profile photos of such accounts are usually stolen from other accounts, and they are usually lures to engage someone in conversation to get money/ID info.
She never loved you, she only loved what you could give her 😆... and I thought that she loved me 🙂
Yeah, but If you do then the sd card is full or dies or you run out of film.I recall Noel (Xmas) telling me that he bumped into Gilden in Brick Lane ,London.
Noel always shot from the hip , Gilden noticed this and commented "sneaky".
Some weeks later Noel saw Gilden again and this time he was shouting at his assistant .
Apparently he had a flat battery and the assistant had no spares.
As he passed Noel said ... "you should always carry a spare battery".
Noel said that " he glared at me " 🙂
Mike, I think you better look at some modern photo books. Anything goes.I like threads that could be published as a photography book. Threads like “Prague” or “Farm Animals”, “Clouds”, “A Man & a Woman”…topics that force a photographer to exercise some self discipline.

"Beautiful"? That word is an even bigger can of worms!
To be clear, I don't mind people saying nickon, it's them insisting that others are saying it wrong that bugs me, because nickon is at least as wrong as neyekon if the original Japanese version is the determinant of what is "correct". There's a certain well known British camera person who lives in Japan, speaks Japanese, and yet insists that Americans say it wrong and fellow Brits say it right by saying Nickon.
I think they're all still a bit tetchy over that 1776 business...Brits do tend to be a bit persnickety about pronunciation. My wife is British and thinks I pronounce everything—including my own name—incorrectly.

Ni-car-AG-you-ah (country in Central America). JAG-you-ar (British car brand). I don't think those are correct pronunciations, just idiosyncratic British ones.Brits do tend to be a bit persnickety about pronunciation. That`s because here in the UK language and especially pronunciation carry with them strong indications regarding education and social standing.
