Petri RFs go for very cheap on ebay, but really like their performance:

#1--Kodak Ultramax 400
#2,3,4--CVS 400
#5--Ferrania 100

I got one cheaply too. I had one in 1963, so I decided to get another. The meter on top is great, you can pre-set exposure. And the leaf shutter is used by me constantly with my flash, it is synched all the way to 1/500.

This one was synched at 1/500 on a very bright but foggy day:

One thing is the non-hot shoe is loose for anything. My flash slips out. I use the Vivitar 2800-d that was equally cheap on Ebay. But I had to buy a hotshoe to PC to use it on the Petri and many other cameras. When the hot shoe to PC came I put a few layers of masking tape on the bottom to tighten up the fit. Good luck. I'm taking mine with flash to Mexico soon.

I bought a Olympus 35RC and the Petri 7s at about the same time. Because the Petri was a third tier camera when I bought it in 1963, I figured it was nothing compared to the 35RC. But it is much studier, maybe that is because it is older. It also has every bit as good a lens as the 35RC. So take good care of the Petri 7s and you will have a wonderful addition to your stable.

Here is a shot I took with mine and you should see the extreme blowup, but I can't find it:

CJC, the larger file is definitely better. I had a couple of 35RCs, but
they developed film advance problems (like never use Fomapan 200 in
them, or any other stiff film) so gave them to a friend who thought
he could repair them. My Trip 35s and Oly 35SP have much better film
advance and are keepers.

Here are a few more, I currently have some Fuji 800 in the cam, will see
how it goes:

Here we meet again, Bill - I mean Petri 7s. It's like a princess looking like a frog 🙂 Or like cheap mazda or opel/vauxhall/chevrolet - nothing fancy, but it delivers, yet for very low price.

The lenses may be the best part of the Petri 7s... I have my father's f/1.8 version, great performance. A Petri Half-7 was one of my first cameras, along with a PetriFlex V... long time ago!

7S with 1.8 lens looks same as with 2.8 lens except lens itself. Franks' camera isn't 7S (can't remember which model, though).

Andrejs, is the f1.8 model called a 7sII, maybe? I've seen that posted, but
didn't Google what it was.

No, Bill. I think 7S][ is slightly modded 7S, mainly differing by adding X contact in hot shoe and missing green screen over RF entry window. Both lenses - f/2.8 and f/1.8 were available on latter model too.

EDIT: here is 7S with f/1.8 lens

Andrejs and Frank, thanks for the info. Until I locate the 1.8 model, this 7s
is not half-bad, even with expired grainy Fuji 800 film:
