Photo books- what are the must haves?

But, borrow or steal it.

This book will improve your photography, and it is well-worth $50.

The payment thing was not easy for me either.

Or buy a handmade leather case and become a fondler.

Its hardbound and over 500 pages long. I don't think $50 is too much to ask. I will definitely be picking this one up.

It is seriously heavy. Mine came by special delivery in a box big enough for a dog or young child.

The delivery person knew to come to the cafe bar where I often sit and waste time. He struggled in with the box, which became the center of attention. Then everybody wanted to hold the book and weigh it in their hand. I got to take the big box to the dumpster the other side of the main road. Enjoy the book.

Havn't seen it mentioned yet but I think "Robert Capa: The Definitive Collection" is a must!! and its pretty damn cheap for 600 pages.

James Nachtwey's Inferno

Inferno is awesome. Big and not inexpensive, but well worth it not only in content, but also in print quality.

There are a lot of good books out there, Kyle, and many have been mentioned. Take your time. Don't be in a hurry. I typically look the books over in the library (interlibrary loan is a great thing) before I buy it. When I do buy books, I have usually gotten them remaindered or used (online - I have no used book dealers carrying photo books around here either). That's part of the fun.
