it's my first, despite the fact that they have been an annual event in town for quite some time.
i won't be heading out with a pocketful of money but i will have some ready and spare cash.

do i NEED anything in particular? not really.

do i WANT anything? oh yeah...always.

i'm thinking of a large hard case, one to store my gear and work out of.
this way i can pick and choose the gear and bag for the occasion.
and if the place ever catches fire i only need to grab one big bag.
(and the dog of course)

or maybe a tripod, for some inside (it's too damn cold to shoot outside) work this winter. i always hate buying new tripods at new tripod prices.

i had been thinking about another meter but then the luna pro deal appeared and was too good to pass up.
that meter sure grows on ya.

i doubt that a nice user canon p will be there and if there was one i'm thinking the prices might be too high.
maybe a lens, a canon 35/3.5 maybe (and maybe then i'll call this 35 obsession over) 😉

some filters maybe, another 40mm uv would make me very happy.

a slide projector, oooh, a medium format slide projector. i have a bunch of 6x6 slides around here somewhere.

what would you be thinking of if the photo fair was in your city this sunday?

I need a bag for the Digital Rebel kit I got from Byuphoto. It's a tight fit in my Domke satchel bag.

...but I don't think I've ever heard of such a fair here. This weekend I'll be going to an agricultural fair, the Durham fair. No camera equipment, just very large cows.

Joe, simply let opportunity be your guide. Allow yourself to be open to possibilities you haven't considered. See what's there. You never know, a black Canon P might just present itself.

Oct 2 is the semi-annual PHSC camera fair... that should be an interesting one.

...or you may just come across an M2 for $400. You just never know. Let yourself be open to whatever may happen. You may meet your next wife there....

Let me know how the fair goes! I was supposed to go, but other plans came up. It was going to be a good test for my Kiev, but now I'll have to wait for the Big E next week, and Harwington Fair the weekend after. HEY, maybe if you head up to Harwington, I'd get to meet a RFFer 😀

Well, I'm planning on going to the photo fair here in Vienna in mid-Oct. - I'll be mainly looking for a lens-cap for my Rolleiflex 3.5 C (these are really rare, they are bay. II, but not exchangeable with the much more common ones for the 3.5 F, and go for ridiculous amounts of money); maybe an orange or yellow-green filter in 40mm (for the Canon 50/1.8); I will not be looking for an M2 any more, if everything turns out as I planned; I will be looking for some darkroom stuff (a Jobo Prima print tank, a film-cleaner by Simco or Kinetronics), but doubt that there'll be a lot of that around; and I'm going to look for that seller from Bratislava, Slovakia, who always has Foma printing paper for great prices...

Tomorrow I plan on going to something almost like a fair - a meeting of about 50 Citroen DS-owners here in the city.

I have a list...... Summarit, Nikkor 50/2, Summitar, Canon 100/3.5, maybe even a 135/3.5. I would probably look to find one of these and be ready to buy if I thought it was a real good deal. Of course hoods and filters and little things that I don't need are fun to look at and a worthy conversation piece afterwards, "why did I buy this?"

So, if you see any of these........🙂

Actually, I would love to be able to go to one of these things. I think I will go look at the Shutterbug event calendar.

Figures, there was a Photorama Camera Show & Sale last weekend. It isn't a big event, I went to one a couple years ago and walked out with nothing. I bet with the additional knowledge I now have I could find something.

I have to get together with Ray to make sure we don't miss another one of these.

i'm not sure how large this thing is.
it's organized by the edmonton photographic society ( who do not seem to have a website) and is in a local hotel.

i envision a large ballroom with lots of tables filled with all manner goodies.

just back from the photo fair.
a bit of a disappointment, size wise, maybe a dozen or so tables.

no filters in my needed sizes, finally saw and held a canon 50/.95 on a canon 7. that lens is so big the 7 seemed like a mini cam, too funny.

but some good news. i got 2 hard, aluminum cases for 35 bucks (cdn).
i need to clean them a bit and buy some foam and they will do the job i want.

i found a canonet ql17 (not the g3) for cheap and almost passed it up till i noticed that it came with a new hoya 48mm hood, a hood that fits fits and screws in nicely to my canon 50/1.4.
it blocks less of the finder than the canon original hood.
need to check for vignetting. the camera + hood was less than i've seen the hood sell for on ebay.
the camera meter does not seem to work but the rest of it appears ok.
bought a filter wrench for 2 bucks.

and i found a mint rubber hood for a cle 90/4 lens?
the original minolta hood. wierd thing is...it was my hood years ago! i bought it from the guy i sold my cle kit to. he re-sold the kit but the hood got left behind.

but i have no need for the hood really and thought someone here might be interested in it.
let me know.

and that was my morning at the fair.

i forgot to mention the 2 aluminum cases i got yesterday also.
a small one, kinda make-up case shaped and a slightly larger one, like a small suitcase.

i want to keep all my gear, bodies & lenses, in one case and all my filters, extra hoods etc in the smaller one.

on my way home from work today i stopped at 'foam king' and had them cut 2 pieces of hi density foam that were pre measured to fit perfectly, and they do fit just right.
now comes the hard part - configuring where the gear sits and then cutting the foam.

the clerk told me to either use 'pam' cooking spray or a sheet of 'bounce' fabric softener on the blade and it will glide right through.

not looking forward to the cutting but it will be cool when it's done and all my gear is resting comfortably and safely.
