Anybody here use it? I'm looking for some exposure and dev times for Acros 100, Neopan 400, Tri-X, and Plus-X in 35mm. Any tips would be great...

Also, the datasheet says only two rolls should be processed per liter of working solution. Does that mean two rolls of 120? I hope to get four rolls of 135-36 per liter to get the most out of my tank.

FORMULARY TFX-2 HIGH DEFINITION DEVELOPER FX-2 is an updated proprietary modification of the popular FX-2 developer.
TFX-2 offers an extremely high degree of sharpness, which is at least as great as the Beutler developer, although somewhat less than FX-1. However, gradation with TFX-2 is much more pleasing than with either Beutler or FX-1. TFX-2 offers a speed increase between one half and one full stop and has an exceptional resistance to streaking.

Interesting developer. I am using Beutler, home made (and AM50, Amaloco same type characteristics) , Rodinal (Commercial Agfa Rodinal version, for slow-and medium speed films) and AM74/RHS (Amaloco, Rollei-Maco) a phenidone hydroqiunon developer (for higher speed films).

I also looked at the Crawley FX-1 and FX-2 developers.

The Beutler however is alreday so good and incredible cheap and simple to make that the modification with KI (Potassium Iodide) can hardly improve the preformance. In FX-1 you need 5ml KI 0,001% for 1 ltr. It's really neglectible.

Developing times in BEUTLER:
Acros 100 : 7 min.
Neopan 400 : 15 min.
Tri-X (400) : 11 min.

FX-1 and Beutler are almost 100% compatible. I am not sure about the modifications in FX-2 and this TFX-2 formula.

Best regards,

Robert

Thanks, Robert. I was looking for something high-acutance that would work well with 100 and 400 speed films without any speed loss, maybe even a boost. Maybe I'll play around with TFX-2 anyways and see how I like it. I would try Beutler and PC-TEA but I don't want to mix my own chemicals right now. I'll email PF and see what they say.

Indeed, high acutance and high definition you will have with these developers: Beutler, FX-1, FX-2 and TFX-2 for sure and you can shoot at box speed or even 1/3-2/3F stop more instead of Rodinal where you are loosing 1/3-2/3F speed.

Beutler is really simple to make:
Solution A:

1g Metol
5g Sodiumsulfite (sicc.) =water free

fill up till 100ml with demi water.

Solution B:

Sodiumcabonate (sicc.) 5g or instead
Household Soda ( .10 H2O) 14,6g

fill up till 100ml with demi water.

Dilution 1+1+10
eg. 25ml + 25 ml fill up till 250ml (content of the small 35mm tank)

You can keep the solutions A+B at least 6 months.

Here an 35mm example in Beutler of Efke 25. These single layer films were made for the Willi Beutler formula. In the 50's Dr Schleussner/Adox.

Efke 25 in Beutler 1+1+10 for 7 minutes. M7 + Summarit 2,5/75mm.
