photography + geography equals ?

i have not traveled enough to know where i'd like to go. but, i think a rocky coast, in a place that has four seasons, and ever-changing light ...

I'd love to spend Summer and Fall in the North East Coast (think Maine),
and back to Texas in Winter and Spring.

For my photography, I think I'd be like a kid in a candy store if I ever visited Europe.
One day, I will.

If it is a fantasy, then I want to spend a few days on the ISS, or be on the next trip to the moon.

Oh, heck, I want to photograph the sunrise on Mars...

fantasy question!

consider this...

your current gear
how/what you prefer to photograph

if you could...where would you move to in order to facilitate your image making?
Fantasy, huh?:) For photography... Hawaii was mentioned first, an attractive choice. I'm there every year or two, though never in summer. Visiting is great, the weather is ideal, and I think I get some good shots there every time. I like to drive... in Hawaii the speed limits are low, and you can't drive to the next county; it could mean a barge trip to get your BMW to the dealer for service. But this fantasy is about photography... it might take a long time to get tired of the photo opportunities.

California - Huge variety of interesting landscapes and lifestyles. This could be a great fantasy choice, with access to the attractions of neighboring states and a foreign country. Northern California, probably, for easier access to scenic southern Oregon, Lake Tahoe, etc. This might be IT.

Washington is full of great landscapes and urban opportunities too. Puget Sound and its islands, two snowy mountain ranges, ocean beaches and rain forests, desert and shrub-steppe. Maybe smack in the middle of the state for best access in all directions to neighbor states and a foreign country that's not so foreign. A bit chilly in winter, but... Yes, I think this is my choice, and best of all it already feels like home. :)

I am right where I want to be. I'd just like to travel more to other cities. It's tough with a 4 year old in tow. My wife and I fantasize about living in Istanbul. We were there 4 years ago and would love to go back. We loved it there. We would love to introduce it to our son. Soon....

Simple, as its fantasy.

I'll have an apartment in NY, a flat in Paris, an old yacht in the Greek islands, somewhere overlooking the harbour in Sydney, a small island in the Gulf of Panama and everywhere else I'll just fly/drive or cycle to. The world's a big place and I think I'll need a few bases around the place.

Ask me to narrow that down to one which I could do tomorrow - I'd wander around the Greek Islands with my X-Pro, M6 and a tummy full of figs and thick coffee.

island hopping the british coastline mainly the orkaney islands, but in this fantasy id also have a nice wood and brass field camera and be able semi skilled in its use, with my farther in tow babbling on about sea birds

Fantasy:

Spend one year on the moons of Jupiter and Saturn with my 4x5 photographing spectacular landscapes using black and white then print a show at home in my darkroom.

Reality, live the life I already do in that I get to basically do the same thing in a spectacular setting at 8,000 feet in a world famous ski town.

Get busy living or get busy dying....

Fantasy is for people who watch too much TV or rack up huge post counts on the internet....

well, thanks for the early morning insult!

Been there, done that. I'm staying home.
Of course there is this magnificent young woman in Hollister, Ca. I would not mind photographing her one more time.
