All photos were taken with Leica Noctilux-M 50mm f/0.95 Asph + Leica M10

I set the aperture at f/0.95 almost all the time to get the most out of this lens. So I am able to get steady images in the extremely low light situation. No flash light involved. All handheld and manual focus. Its performance is stunning.

Nice shots! But let's be honest here. If a 7Artisans lens had this kind of lens flare people would be freaking out saying this is why you need to pay the big bux for a Leica lens!

I was thinking the same thing Huss. That is a lot of money for a lens with flare that ugly....

I am not sure how good the 7Artisans lenses could perform and how good they can handle this kinds of extremely strong light in the dark night. I believe all the lenses in the world would flare crazily if there is strong spotlight aiming toward the lens. I’ve heard lots of good thing about 7Artisans like they are affordable bang-for-your-buck options. I do agree that. But hey, Leica is Leica. I am a Leica fan boy. It makes me want to take more pictures when I am holding it in hands. I love the built quality of Leica lenses.

By the way, even though I rarely sell my lenses before. I believe Leica lenses could hold their value for a very long time. Actually they are very good investments for most of my cases.

Love the spontaneity of the images Kevin. That's what has the most impact in images of such events. The flare in my opinion adds to the natural nature of capturing such images. I grew up in the city (NYC) and miss capturing such celebrations. Thanks for posting.

I like that flare!

Crazy Fun indeed !

Good results and good pictures. I can't watch most of posted H photos, too gross. But those are like normal, family event. 🙂

Thanks! I am glad you guys love my photos.

Don't get me wrong Kevin, I love your compositions and the way you do the Michael Bay orange/cyan movie processing.
Just was surprised at seeing the hot spots (that tear shaped blob flare) in a $12,000 lens no matter where the light source is.
Looking forward to seeing what Mr Zhou will do with his Noctilux replica!

Thank you Huss! Haha. No worries. I totally get it. I just forgot to quote you in my previous reply. Well, I am very exciting for his next Noctilux 50 1.2 AA project. That is my No.1 dream lens for sure.
