Photos taken with Nikkor-O 2.1cm 1:4 - POST HERE

This lens comes in S-mount and F-mount. There's probably not many people using the S-mount version, but I know there's people using the F-mount version mounted either on an S-mount camera via an F->S/C adapter or an F-mount camera. If you've got any shots taken with either version, post 'em here.

The SLR version on a BD S2 with the Cosina adapter (and another one on a Nikon F - with the original finder and backcap). Good lenses, nice fall off.
Still cant figure out this downloading to the RFf though!!!!

Thanks Jon. Must be the analog user in me that cant figure out the "linking". Somewhere in the great pixellated sky there is a hard drive that holds a lot of my pictures!
It is a pity that not more people use the old 21f4 Nikkor. It has a very special look to it - not a Biogon "clinical" or the Super Angulon 21. It is also very compact - can easily slide into a pocket. It also uses the 52 mm filter in the F version.

Thanks, Jon, for the examples. I have often considered getting the F version with an F->M adapter. Certainly cheaper than the S-mount, and half the price of, say, a Super Angulon.

Tom, how would you compare the Nikkor against the SA ?

The advantage of the SA versus the F mount 21f4 is that the SA is coupled to the focussing.
The SA has higher contrast and the center sharpness is better (still one of the sharpest center portion of any 21, even among todays new wonders). The Nikon is more even across the board - still remarkably sharp, surprisingly modest vignetting for a 50 year old design.
Both lenses have a distinct 60's look to the image (not altogether bad) and they really shine with black/white.
I probably use my SA more than the Nikkor 21f4 - but that is most likely out of habit as I have used SA's since 1964. However, when I get into Nikon "mood" I either take the VC 21f4 or the Nikkor 21f4 along. Both lenses are compact and can be kept in a shoulder bag without to much weight penalty. I like the original Nikkor 21f4 in Rf mount - but it is a collectible and premium priced - cant see myself spending that kind of money - particularly as I have plenty of 20's and 21's to choose from.

Thomas, only about 300 Nikkor-O 2.1cm f4's were made in S-mount, so its rare and expensive. Prices are comparable to Noctilux prices 😱

That's the thing that really impresses me about the Nikkor-O, Tom. Almost no light fall off in the corners for a 50 plus year old optical design is quite impressive. No complaints here regarding sharpness either 🙂

Has anyone information on how the Nikkor 21mm/4 compares with the W-Rokkor 21mm/4?

I love the vintage look of the W-Rokkor non-retro focus 21mm 4.0 lens.

Raid. years ago I tried the W-Rokkor 21f4 and I remember not being too impressed with it. I did run it against a 21f3/4 SA which at the time was (and, yes, still is my favorite) and found it a bit lackluster. Could have been the sample I tried too, of course.
You have any samples with it? Please post - though i do not need any more 21mm GAS!

Not at all, but I always like to compare lenses. Just looking at images from one lens without allowing for images by other lenses is less useful, in my opinion.

Just looking at web images the actual size of a postal stamp when displayed at 300 dpi to allow lenses to be compared ones with others is just a bit less useful as well. 😀

Do you guys use hood on the 21/4 nikkor? The original hood seems pretty hard to find.
